Oh one cool note, during the scenes where they have just like shots of the festival etc, they have instrumental tracks of Wilco songs. Guessing they had Jeff or someone playing it on acoustic, it's just an acoustic guitar playing the riffs of various Wilco songs.
-
Watching it now (got one window open with that playing, and another window with work) - good amount of Wilco, but also lots of other performers and even just people from North Adams or at SS. Tons of performance footage from all the performing bands, for better and for worse.
It's mildly interesting.

But that week is also a joyful one, as it is the week we begin planning to attend the next Solid Sound!
In two years : (
I'm wildly optimistic that there may be an announcement at Solid Sound that could tide us over, Wilco wise, for the time being. AKA a new album, but this is only based off of an interview Jeff gave to the LA Times a few months ago saying there were like 36 songs ready for a new album.
Well, that and the fact that they announced the Whole Love at SS 2011
-
The last week will be the hardest.

My three biggest list crossovers so far are GtrPlyr (9), uncool2pillow (8), and BobDylan'sBeard (8).
There's a few on your list that could easily be on mine.

Last time I made an entire photo gallery of people wearing Wilco shirts
Awesome! I was looking at some of your other photos from that SOlid Sound, you're a great photographer!

I think it wasn't me because the only show I went (except Solid Sound 2013) was Miami on May 15, 2012 and Jeff mentioned me before Hummingbird because I asked Glenn to stand on his drums But I'm curious, if you find which show was please let me know!
This was it! I was at that show too, which is why I was listenin to it. Now I feel silly for not remembering which one, but then I listen to lots of Wilco shows.

Do they have good craft beers at Solid Sound? I assume they may since it's, y'know, kind of artsy and appreciative of these things (well the festival goers) - though they may just have the usual big brand "craft beers" you see at venues.
I saw Beck at Mass MoCa last summer, can't for the life of me remember the beer selection though I drank some. Probably was Blue Moon or something.
-
Also, Sam Tweedy has good taste!
-
I'll almost certainly be wearing a Daniel Johnston t-shirt one of the days. Probably not a Wilco t-shirt, you're not supposed to wear shirts of the band who you are going to see, they say. Though sometimes I can't help it with Wilco.
Or I'll be wearing that Sun Records t-shirt they sell at WalMart that everyone has at concerts.Just look for a youth with glasses and a Bob Dylan circa New Morning goatee/beard. (Yes that is also my username but I made this account long before I had facial hair)

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and his sons, Spencer & Sam Tweedy, go shopping at Amoeba Music in Hollywood.
See their full list of picks: http://bit.ly/1GHWznZ
Totally unrelated, but I was listening to a Wilco show yesterday (or maybe Jeff solo? No, it was a Wilco show) and Jeff mentions a fan from Brazil complementing Nels, was it you? I wish I could remember which show (I could figure it out though, by going through my browser history, maybe.)

Better than Disneyland...I'm fond of saying it's like having Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory located in the middle of Pepperland.
Joe's Field has plenty of places to toss down a nice blanket, but... from what the veteran's have said about it's development (my first time was last time, 2013), & I concur that it's getting to be at about capacity size wise & I hope it doesn't grow any. I don't think it can really (think there are probably legal limits they are reaching on Saturday at least) & it's still good size wise, but with Saturday sold out & Friday being acoustic/unplugged getting a place down front involves some issues with folks bringing chairs etc.. not arriving when they start seems wise.
There appears to be two pretty decent acts in Joe's Field right before Wilco, so my plan is to get down there, at least, before they do on. The sound is pretty awesome, so even being back farther isn't a big deal....but... being it is a larger crowd it kind of felt better to me when I was up front more. The biggest issues for me last year involved hydration & going to the bathroom. There are ample places to get fresh water, for free, all over Pepperland/Wonka's Factory, but... having a longer show & the bathrooms far away did cause a breakdown for all of my team at various points on Saturday as the temps were sweltering & in the 90's (the more difficult side of beautiful I guess)...Hope all this helps! It's gonna be great!!!
It's a real tough marketplace for space up close out there at some shows (certainly SS), so I usually have to just hold it.
-
2) Friday is almost all about getting down front as far as possible for the unplugged/acoustic Wilco show.
Agreed.

The outtakes from BOTT should be due for the Bootleg series. Some of the alternate versions are stunning. But only Dylan knows if that is the next thing out of the vaults. When you realize he cleared the Basement Tapes with all the crap attached to it (bad sound, half finished songs, insanely bad covers, et. al.) then there should be room for not only BOTT, but also the outtakes from Infidels as well. Those are also quite good.

Word on the street (the Dylan fan site internet street) is that BOTT outtakes are the next edition of the Bootleg series. I'd love to get Infidels outtakes too, that's my favorite Dylan '80s record, and there's some stuff from those sessions I have been DYING to hear.

I wrote such a long personal response, I forgot to include one point regarding the issue of buying Dylan or Springsteen CDs. I can't recommend Dylan's Blood on the Tracks strongly enough. Not only is it a top ten Dylan album (probably top 3 for me), it's also probably his most cohesive statement as an artist: thematically and musically, it hangs together more as a work of art than any other of his classic records, in my opinion. There are plenty of classic Dylan albums, and they have plenty of incredible songs, but there's nothing like Blood on the Tracks.
That's why I consider it his best album - though I also have to say there isn't one Dylan album that is better than the others. There's like five (at least) that are all tied for me.
BOTT is also awesome because the "alternate" versions of the songs that Dylan didn't pick for the final version are still stellar. Some of those songs he never really finished, like Simple Twist of Fate.

PS six friends are meeting up at Pitchfork, average age of 39. We're debating between 1) we're older. we've been front row for Wilco, let's just enjoy the festival and appreciate Wilco from the back 2) but if they play the "real" Spiders, we're going to be annoyed that we didn't post up and preserve front row. Any input?
I'd say go to the front, if you can. Though it does cost a good bit of ear health.

Interesting perspectives from y'all. I'm only 21 (I may be the youngest member of the board, though I make an active effort to spread the gospel of Wilco to other youths) so I'm still in the "discovery" phase, sort of. Also interesting how many of you are indifferent to Spotify. I'm not crazy about compressed music files in general, but I use Spotify constantly (even pay for Premium) since it's the most convenient way of listening to all my music. Actually, I will make a Spotify playlist at leats once a week for my daily listening, usually a few times a week as the playlists tend to get played out rather quickly.
But Spotify was a big way for me to discover music, at least when it first came out. Not so much new genres, but similar artists to stuff I already listened to, and it also has helped me keep on top of new music. I'm pretty oblivious to new stuff if it isn't a band I already follow, even for a young guy. For example, I often see peers posting song lyrics to a hit song as a caption of a picture on social media, I almost never know the lyric, or at least in high school I didn't. Now in college I hear these songs at bars and that's basically how I know the big hit songs of the day.
Anyway, I have to also echo what Cold and LouieB said - at the end of the day, live music is the best for me. That's actually my favorite way of discovering new music, and it's partially why I am not immersing myself in the music of Solid Sound performers whose work I am unfamiliar with. It's best (for me) to hear a band play, and then I know their songs, etc. Part of this is from the fact that I have the affliction of musical ADD that many of my generation have, since we came up on iPods and are accustomed to just pressing skip if we want something new.
I've recently started getting into records and LPs and the like, after blowing most of my latest tax return on a player and a budding record collection (once A.M. comes in the mail tomorrow, I'll be missing only the Whole Love to complete all of Wilco's studio records, not counting Mermaid Avenue) and that's curbed my incessant need to skip when I am bored with a song, even songs I've heard a million times, but at the same time I'm FAR more reluctant to buy a record for a band I have never heard, partially since I'm not used to paying a premium for music, or at least for one album. Though this only really applies to the new records that cost 25-30 bucks, I love finding old used stuff in the bins for a few bucks a pop and coming home with like 5 records.Anyway, super interesting topic and I'm really enjoying reading everyone's thoughts.

I'm outside of Harrisburg. I actually teach at the Penn State campus here. I was off at grad school when they were playing the colleges here--and it figures that they played Tallahassee right after I left and Jeff played a 5 minute walk from where I used to live in Ithaca last fall and Nels is playing there in the fall. If I move, they'll probably play here next!
You missed a great show in Tally, sadly. I couldn't believe they have only come to Tally twice, ever (at least according to Wilcobase) - especially after the last show as the fans (and not really the students, there were plenty of us there since the concert was free to students, but I was mostly with adult Wilco fans up front in the 'pit') were SO SO SO into it and hungry for Wilco.
Incidentally I was watching a documentary about the recent Penn St...issues, and they play "Country Disappeared" in the beginning.
