  1. He was, up until about a week ago. Then he was kind of for it, but now he is against it again. Or something.
  2. Is this possible? We've had 8 years of Bush. Anything was supposed to be better than him, wasn't it?
  3. Sorry, its just fun messing with you guys.
  4. Protecting her against witches seems kind of pointless--I thought her adversaries were all godless secular humanists? And besides, the GOP is probably wishing right now that somebody would come along and turn her into a Newt.
  5. What was that scenario again where tOSU slides back into the picture? Edit: Just kidding, folks. (or am I?)
  6. Been there, done that from the flipside. For those of us on the other side of the fence who watched a Bush presidency and Republican controlled congress shred the Constitution, laughing all the time, and calling us "unpatriotic" when we dared speak up. It sucks. Hope you don't have to experience that. PS - I also think you're overreacting about the socialist society thing.
  7. We've officially reached the point in the campaign where almost all of us have been dug into our respective trenches for a while and won't be budging no matter what, so all that's left to do is sit back and watch the sideshow unfold--and to mock it, mercilessly. Which we will dutifully do while we pass the time for the next month. I wish I knew more of these undecided voters in real life--it would be interesting to hear what makes them tick. Seemingly everyone I know already made their choice, one way or another, and will defend it to the end. Honestly, I think this is going to come down
  8. Poodle-skirt fetish? Edit: I love that there is a front page article on cnn.com advising people to keep paying their mortgages even if their lenders are one that are currently threatened. Wow, thanks for the info. God, I WISH it worked that way. My mortage company blew up shortly after I made my first payment on my current house. It would have been sweet if they just said "nah, don't worry about it" to the remaining balance.
  9. Wow. Palin is campaigning at Ground Zero. On the day of the Great Campaign SuspensionTM. Rudy must be proud.
  10. I'd like to see them wing it. Why not? They've been preparing for something else entirely, but lets see what happens when they go completely off script.
  11. I can't tell if this is sarcasm. No doubt Biden puts his foot in his mouth sometimes, but the rest of that post......really???? What happened to pit-bull hockey mom? They're afraid to let her talk to anybody. When she does, she's getting stumped by the likes of Katie Couric asking what should be about the most basic question that can be asked of a VP candidate during an economic crisis. Give one example of why we should trust your running mate on the economy (paraphrasing). She balked. Oh. my. god.
  12. Will there be a "splatter zone" like the Evil Dead musical??
  13. Its in the mail. But we're cutting funding to the Postal Service. You'll have to come get it. Its in Alaska. In a cave surrounded by hungry polar bears. But don't worry, they mostly just cannibalize themselves anymore, so there are fewer of them.
  14. I was going to mention that, too, the bit about McCain previously wanting to do town hall things. That would have been cool, actually. But I think McCain looks like he needs a break. Campaigning is brutal, he seems to be in damage-control mode, and he looks badly fatigued lately and has not been sharp in recent interviews. (numerous gaffes such as the Spain thing, forgetting that Czechoslovakia isn't a country anymore, etc.) Dude needs a nap.
  15. Calm down, everybody. The economy should be fixed any minute now.
  16. Bush debates in his place. Shouldn't be that different.
  17. In terms of taxpayer-funded parks, I think Baltimore was one instance that actually worked out pretty well for the city, mostly because it was part of a larger effort to revitalize an area of town. That stadium became the blueprint (sometimes literally) for a lot of the stadiums that followed, but I don't know how well most of them worked out for their neighborhoods on the whole. I don't know that dropping a new stadium anywhere will, by itself, necessarily work wonders for its surrounding area unless it is part of larger effort.
  18. I'm surprised this thread is still here--I thought it would be suspended by now. For the good of the country, you know? My head hurts. This whole stunt is so ridiculous, if there is any rationality left in this country, this race should effectively have ended yesterday. I guess we'll have to wait and see if that is the case. I'm not holding my breath. Fun stuff: Did anyone see Palin get stumped by Katie Couric? Come on, people, if she ever does (god forbid) find herself in the role of president, she's going to have to deal with people a whole lot scarier that Katie f'ing Couric!
  19. If she's smart, she really would make a small donation. It would make her look moderate and "mavericky". The people who love her for her anti-choice views would know it was a bullshit PR-stunt and will vote for her anyway, and then she can go back to giving PP teh finger the day after the election. Wait, did I just give her advice?
  20. I like to think that no divine being would ever be caught dead (or reincarnated) wearing those ugly-ass things.
