One unquestioned highlight, though, certainly had to be a lovely twangy version of I’m Always In Love that I’m not sure I’ve ever heard before with Jeff on acoustic guitar and Pat and Nels providing gorgeous support on electric, Pat’s Telecaster work being a real standout. I can only hope that maybe this lilting version, with Jeff even scaling back his garage-y vocals a bit, will find its way into a regular set sometime soon.

    Yes, please!!!

Thank you for yet another insightful review, bböp. Wish I could have been there for this one.

    How was it?

Those kids are absolutely joyous, performing like seasoned pros, although they're just getting started. The show outside Pittsburgh was the first night of their tour and it happened only hours before their record "Restless" was released on John Prine's label. So you can imagine how stoked they were. The bass player, Manoa wore his homemade Nudie suit. :wub

Palmyra would fit right in at Solid Sound. Work that kidsmoke magic!

Seeing them next week. Please report back.

    I'm seeing Finom tonight.

That was my first ever Lucero show, so I can't tell you whether it was above or below par, but the table of hardcore fans next to me seemed stoked. There was plenty of banter from Ben Nichols; he hung out in the lobby after the show and talked with several of us and was a good sport shaking hands and posing for photos. All-around great show IMHO.
