  2. I went to college and lived in Winona, MN for four years. I heard that her parents traveled through Winona and thought it was beautiful (it is) and that is how she got her name. Not relevant to this thread, but I thought I would throw out some useless Winona Ryder on you all.

Actually, they used to live there. Winona herself was actually born there and was name after the town.

    Winona Ryder Is(n't) Engaged

BY: Actress Archives | Monday, March 3, 2008

It depends who you ask. A number of news sources are claiming that the 36-year-old actress announced plans to wed rocker Blake Sennett while the two were attending a Valentino fashion show in Paris last Thursday.

A number of sources say the rumors are completely untrue.

Winona Ryder's rep told Access Hollywood, "No, not true," when asked about the engagement reports.

The actress met Sennett, who plays guitar in the indie rock band Rilo Kelly and does some acting on the side, while the two were working on the upcoming film "Water Pill." Sennett, 31, was a TV regular in the early and mid-'90s, playing Ronnie Pinsky on Salute Your Shorts, and Joseph 'Joey the Rat' Epstein on Boy Meets World. But nowadays he's a rocker first and actor second.

That makes sense, because, well, Winona likes her rock stars.

he actress has been romantically linked with the Counting Crows' Adam Duritz, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, Jamiroquai's Jay Kay, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, and Ryan Adams. She was also engaged to Johnny Depp, of course - a three year relationship which left a "Winona Forever" tattoo on the Pirates' actor's arm. That tattoo has since famously been altered to read "Wino Forever."

Winona Ryder's film work has slowed down a little bit over the years since the peak of her fame in the mid-'90s. Winona fever may just get its second wind however, as she's set to play Spock's mother in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek.

  3. I'm sure she's probably a nice person. Let's just say many of her acting roles have been a bit precious.

Well...yeah, I guess I can see that. But, you should check out some of her films where she's not so precious. "The Crucible," "Celebrity," "Night on Earth," and her latest role in "The Infomers" is I hear anything but precious. In fact, the novel/ film centers around morally challenged young folks living in LA!! I just watched Bret Easton Ellis on Charlie Rose and he has said that the characters are much like the ones in "American Psycho!" That made me buy the book... I just haven't started reading it yet though.

  4. Even though for now this is just a rumor- if it's true I'm happy for her/them. At the same time I'm kind of jealous! :wub Always knew she'd marry a rocker! :yes

    From Harp magazine:

    January 20, 2007

Wilco has been ensconced in its Chicago studio The Loft polishing off its next studio album, slated for a May 15th release on Nonesuch. To be titled Sky Blue Sky, it’s the follow-up to 2004’s Grammy-winning A Ghost is Born—in between came 2005’s concert set Kicking Television—and the first collection of Wilco material that finds all the members of the touring band in the recording studio together. Sky Blue Sky is self-produced by Wilco and mixed by longtime associate Jim O’Rourke.

At presstime there are reportedly over 18 songs on deck from which the band will make a final track selection, among them "Shake It Off," "Side with the Seeds," "Glad It's Over," "Either Way" and "Walken." Last year the band had been performing a number of new songs in concert as well, some of which may surface on the record. They include “Let's Not Get Carried Away,” “What Light,” “Impossible Germany,” “On and On and On,” “Lullaby For Rafter and Beams,” “Patient With Me,” “Let's Fight,” “Is That the Thanks I Get?” and “Maybe the Sun Will Shine.”
