i have shared this slide show homage to Solid Sound 2010 before, but for those on the fence about going and you need a push here it is again!
I definitely don't need a push but I thoroughly enjoyed your slideshow. Thanks.

Yeah..there's nothing that works like a little senseless violence and vandalism in changing people's minds.
Well I didn't mean actual rioting, but we very rarely protest anything. That was my point.
-
Well, we got the dates right. This from Solid Sound's Facebook page.
Solid Sound Festival 2011 is on & officially set for June 24-26 @ MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. Info at solidsoundfestival.com

if there are more people, they need to figure out a better system for funneling people from the gift shop/lobby area out into the patio/deck/courtyard area.
My only problem with last year was the indoor Hunter Center. It was just too small to fit all of the people who wanted to get in there and all of the shuffling was distracting. Perhaps they will schedule a few things at the same time to break up the crowd this time around.

OK, I've got my cup of coffee...waiting for the announcement.
-
I think we need to riot more here. We just sit and take it.

Because it's an expensive town with two hotels (which are both already sold out) and not enough restaurants to support the number of people the festival will draw that's almost two hours from even regional airports and train stations.
Try Albany airport. It's about an hour drive.

Because it's an expensive town with two hotels (which are both already sold out) and not enough restaurants to support the number of people the festival will draw that's almost two hours from even regional airports and train stations. Last year was terrific, but there are plenty of more accessible places they could have tried this year. If you're not psychic and already booked a room, you're already pretty much screwed. I'm stressed out about logistics already and the dates haven't even been announced.
The hotel situation is a problem but the food was really great at the festival so it didn't really matter to me that there weren't alot of options in town. The venue is really, really wonderful and the townspeople were so cool about everything, so I'm happy it's there again.
I agree that it's also nice that it takes a bit of an effort to get there which I think contributed to the overall good feeling of the event. Everyone that was there really wanted to be there. Also, the drive is beautiful and you start to get in a good mood even before you arrive.

Just reserved at the Williamstown Motel, looks like a real dump but it's a bed secured and if I see something better I can always upgrade
I'll be staying at that same dump.
Oh well. We won't be spending much time in the room anyway...and I've stayed in my fair share of crappy hotels, so I can handle it.

Just talked to the front desk at holiday inn and the guy said wilco booked the place weeks ago and it was all the performers staying there and said it wasn't worth getting on any waiting list.
Just to confirm...are we talking about the last weekend in June?
-
Intresting to note the Front Desk guy called it "That Music Weekend", so I think we nailed the correct weekend ;^)
Porches mentioned that they were fully booked because of a concert as well. I think this is it. Thanks for the tip.
So looking forward to it.

I reserved online at about 10:15 AM EST.
You got lucky. Good for you.
-
I was able to reserve the last weekend in June at the Holiday Inn (6/23-6/26)
When did you book it? My friend just called this morning and was told it was totally booked for that weekend. Porches as well.
-
I would hit the Williamstown hotels then pretty quickly. The ones on Route 2 close to Williamstown (Willows, Orchard, Maple Terrace, Williams Inn) are within walking distance of the shuttle stop they ran last year.
Very convenient.
They are mostly sold out too for that last weekend in June.
-
My wife couldn't even get a room in North Adams, and she said most in Pittsfield are also booked. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilco/Solid Sound booked the whole Holiday Inn it's just 86 rooms.
I stayed in the Holiday Inn last year and it was extremely convenient. Bummer. Camping maybe?
-
Best guess would be the last weekend in June, there are no rooms at the Inn.
Wow. The rooms sold out before the announcement even?

The Maker is a good one.
Written by Daniel Lanois and performed by Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris

When did Via Chicago get so pervy?

I would love some leaked information about Solid Sound 2011. Anybody got anything?

The smell of apple pie in the oven.

This thread sucks.
True. This thread is like Sarah Palin. Totally stupid but people can't seem to stop commenting on it.

Via Chicago
Seconded. This is the song that got me hooked on Wilco forevermore.
-
When I watch this, I feel like it was shot using My Hipstamatic Prints, Lens: -10 years. Jeff looks much younger.
I know. Tweedy looks great at that show. I haven't seen him look that good in years.
-
Ah, my favorite part about seeing someone solo is seeing what they do to their songs with nothing but a guitar, a voice, and perchance a harmonica (or whistling, of course).
I agree. There is something magical about how Tweedy compels us to sit in silence to really feel the songs and the experience.
That said, I still appreciate both approaches.

I think this might have been my favorite part of Solid Sound 2010
