  1. We just got our power back today in upstate New York. Many of the surrounding towns have been devastated by flooding and countless trees are still down on power lines all over. We had a big one fall just missing our house by about 8 feet and there is another resting on the phone lines out front. Friends had to evacuate their homes when the water got too high to be safe. I feel horrible about the many farms that were flooded at what is their peak season.

  2. You know, I never had children, but hanging around here comforts me....like I didn't miss out on a crazy, insane part of life with screaming kids in the backseat pulling each others hair and shit.

  3. Can I also get a PM? I've been checking what/ this site maybe every 30 minutes for the last week. I need this off my mind so I can resume normal human functions ...

Hilarious and sadly true for many of us, I'm sure.

  4. This isn't about a specific song to open a show but it's my favorite concert opening nonetheless. Just after A Ghost is Born was released, Wilco played this small club in Poughkeepsie, NY called The Chance, which was really unusual because things were kind of frenzied at that point with all of the attention that YHF got. Jeff even made a comment about playing a "tertiary market". I was able to get tickets and was so excited. I was loving the record and couldn't wait to hear it live. When they took the stage, I thought my head would pop off from all of the build up and hype. It was amazing to see them at that point in their career in such an intimate setting. It remains my favorite Wilco show ever...and I've been to many.

  5. I am so with you on this. I HATE talking at shows and I had no problem telling this rather large man to shut the hell up at this year's Solid Sound. He kept yelling for people to put the umbrellas down over and over and over. It was raining and yes, the umbrellas were in the way but his constant shouting was way more disruptive to the show than the people trying to keep dry with their umbrellas. He could have clobbered me but instead he politely shut up for which I was grateful.

Also, Wilco played Radio Cure which for me was a magical moment but two dudes next to me decided that this was a great time to have a conversation with each other. I nearly lost it. I didn't drive all the way to Solid Sound and then stand in the pouring rain to have this beautiful moment ruined! The conversation can wait until after the show. What the hell is wrong with people?

  6. I don't know if they'll update it, but I can tell you the app is pretty much useless in it's current form...

Agree. I have the app and it doesn't do anything worthwhile. I wanted to browse through the old posters but I have never been able to see even one. I'm hoping they make an update to it soon.

  7. I sort of have a tradition with my favorite bands. I go and buy the CD at my local record store the day their new album releases. I've been doing it for 10 years or so. The only Wilco leak I've ever taken advantage of was WTA.. I think leaks kind or ruin albums for me. I can't be sure, but I think it ruined MMJ's Evil Urges, and WTA for me.. There's just something about unwrapping a brand new album and listening while checking out the artwork etc.. A (often poor quality) leak just takes away the value.. At least for me..
