  1. I'd like to do some time travelling....see the Beatles in the very early 1960's.
  2. This might be worth reading. Another thing you might want to do is to just talk directly to a local luthier about it. Good luck! http://www.ehow.com/how_8475719_protect-autographs-wearing-off-guitars.html
  3. "Like" Mastodon. I saw Black Sabbath in 1978 when they were still w/ Ozzy. They weren't that good, 'cause they apparently hated each other. Van Halen (not a metal band, IMO), opened. They tore it up. Totally.
  4. If I could do anything right now, I'd join ya!
  5. When I bought The Whole Love, I told the salesman at the store that I wanted the deluxe edition CD. He shook his head and sorta chuckled at me. Like, "Really? Nobody even buys CD's anymore...."
  6. I have a Heritage 535 with Semour Duncan 59 pickups, which I LOVE! It's a very versatile guitar! You can get probably get a nice Epiphone in that price range. You should try to play some, if you're able to!
  7. I've been married for 17 years. We had a somewhat small "intimate" wedding. 46 people in attendance, and we knew everyone there. We were married in the same room that the recepetion took place, and the ceremony took all of 2 minutes. Then we had a party. It was wonderful, and it still remains in my mind as the best day of my life. That said: Do whatever you think will make you and your fiance happy. Try to be fair to those who are important to you, but again, do what makes you happy! Best wishes!!
  8. I like the way the DADGBD tuning sounds! To me, the 'weirdness' was more about trying to reconcile what I was hearing with what I was seeing when Jeff retuned his guitar.
  9. I have to agree. A weird thing is that, in Whole Love, it looks like he's playing a "D" shape with his second finger fretting a note at the 2nd fret of the high e string, (see about 11:05-11:00 minutes left in the video) that sounds more like a fretted E note than an F#. But, like you said, he doesn't retune his high e string for Born Alone.
  10. I just used a drop d tuning to mess around with it a little bit, but I think the high e is tuned down to d as well. Is that how you have your guitar tuned?
  11. Gibsons don't kill rainforests, people do! Handle every Gibson as though it were a loaded Gibson! You can have my Gibson if you can pry it from my cold dead hands! Good day to be a Tele player, indeed! Also a good day to hide the Gibsons!
  12. I really like my Les Paul. It feels good, and it sounds good, but it digs into my side and it's relatively heavy. SG's, on the other hand,.....

    Black Moon noise?

Yes! Exactly! That's why I think it might be a tape machine!

    Black Moon noise?

Yes, definitely not like a clock (though to my ears, it sounds much faster than a clock, unless maybe it's a wristwatch ticking. A ceiling fan, maybe?). I believe it's there intentionally, too--which is why I think it sounds cool. I like hearing the room noise! Thanks for the reply!
  15. Hi, Maybe this is an unusual first post on a forum, but I'd first like to say that LOVE Wilco, and I love The Whole Love. It's quickly become one of my favorite records EVER. It's got everything. Songs, performances, great production, awesome mixing(!), genre changes, instrumentation, and it's well queued. That said, I was wondering if anyone else here has heard the low ticking noise in Black Moon, and if so, do you have any idea what it is? I think it might be the sound of a tape machine or recording device, or some other noise in or near the room where the tracks were recorded. It starts a
