Sometimes I think it'll take just Clinton (and Stephanopoulos) in the White House, Greenspan in the Central Bank, and Martha Stewart in prime time television, plus Seinfeld, and there you go, the nineties are resurrected. But then I think, with these people already too old, and Boris Yeltsin brought back from the afterlife, it'll be like roaming in a nation of zombies -
I first had the impression that it was an album of brand new songs, but even if it's only covers I'm going to be among the first in line to buy it. (And it's very unlikely that there are any lines in these days of sluggish CD sales The excitement of a new record is no longer provided by other bands like R.E.M., so there's the Counting Crows to fill the void, plus they're also touring, I should catch one of their shows before it's too late, before they get too old and decide to stop touring or making records altogether. I should mention that I have all of their records.

Jeff Magnum is a poet. -
So I thought I'd create this little thread for discussion of the Wilderness of Manitoba, last year I purchased their LP When you left the fire, some pretty good folk songs in there, nice artwork enveloping the CD as well. Reportedly they entered the studio in January to record a new album, while the frontman of the band Will Whitwham has announced a solo project as "Lake Forest", this album comes out February 21st in Canada. Overall one the brightest spots in the Canadian music landscape today, you can listen to some of their music here: http://www.thewilder...toba.com/music/

Jeff Tweedy on the current state of rock music
Kim Bodnia replied to Kim Bodnia's topic in Just A Fan
people, the journalist is citing the age of all four interviewees, Auerbach is 32 while the other two range in the 23-28 yr old bracket, to put things into perspective, that's probably why Tweedy's called elder. Anyway, it's a good thing to describe someone as a statesman, I mean, I wouldn't mind if colleagues or friends suddenly started calling me Elder Statesman, it's a nice thing to be called. -
As part of a feature about the current "recession" in rock music, Jeff Tweedy was interviewed by British newspaper The Independent. Other artists interviewed were members of The Black Keys, the Alabama Shakes and EMA. Here are Tweedy's words: Link to The Independent: http://www.independe...rs-6297961.html

Being Jeff Tweedy: Life with Wilco By Jim Harrington Oakland Tribune Jeff Tweedy's day is booked solid. He's got a full schedule of phone interviews, promoting his band's upcoming tour dates, as well as some errands to run for his wife. The Wilco leader is in full multitask mode as he takes a call, fielding questions while his "honey-do" list leads him through the streets of Chicago. Not helping matters is that the Windy City just had experienced its first major snowfall of the season, which has traffic tied up in knots. "It drives me crazy," the 44-year-old singer-songwriter mutters. "I
