  1. I was under the impression that "New Multitudes" was the new Son Volt, now it appears that there´s another Farrar (Sun Volt) release expected this year? What information exists about this album and when does it come out?
  2. Thank you, the Bank Job is extraordinary, it's now within my top 10 films. I'm watching Midnight in Paris soon, sometime this week.
  3. My apologies, I take the blame, I realise it wasn't a post of much camaraderie, I should stop doing this, I'm a natural born pessimist. I'll delete the post if it helps, salutations
  4. These aren't exactly First World problems. Outsouring problems maybe, if the company moved the operations offshore? When you said First World problems I thought you were going to discuss the ageing populations of countries like Italy, Germany or Russia. I read a few years ago that if no initiatives were taken in Italy the population will keep dwindling each year until eventually disappearing. Another problem is the future of nuclear power in countries like France and in the wake of the Japanese experience. Or Canada's disappearing forests, Arctic fauna... The political struggle over
  5. Part of the reason is that it included a CD, which made it a better deal than other vinyl-only products. If the CD hadn´t been included, I doubt it would have sold that much.
  6. Coldplay were at some point billed as "the next U2" just as Oasis were saluted as "the next Beatles". I couldn't care less for either of the two bands, but the Olympics normally feature a homegrown artist. I remember watching the 2002 Sydney Olympic ceremony, in that occasion they resurrected an old Australian hit from the seventies. On the other hand I like Elbow, I didn't know they were commissioned to write music for the Olympics, that's cool.
  7. A rumour quickly spread today that Pink Floyd would reunite in time for the London Olympics. "Pink Floyd 2012 Olympics Concert Rumor Not True According to Spokesman" "This is all simply not true," said a spokesman of the band to Outside The Wall. "Roger Waters Tour is in full swing this summer with more shows expected to be released for August in North America, and David Gilmour is working on a new album to possibly be toured in late 2012-2013. These sorts of rumors are spread about like mad every few months and it really disrupts the band members focus on there current projects." http://w
  8. Since 2008 there has been speculation that Led Zeppelin would reunite and perform at the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in London. About that possibility, Jimmy Page said in 2008 that: "If they asked, it would be an honour." A few days ago, Jason Bonham, the son of Led Zeppelin´s legendary drummer, told British journal The Sun that the chances of Zeppelin reuniting are really slim. The same newspaper cites the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney as other acts who could be recruited for the occasion. (See: http://www.thesun.co...mpic-Games.html) Who would you like to see per
  9. I have the option of watching any of these two tonight... What would you choose?
  10. Zooey is nice, although I was thinking of starting the Jelena Dokic appreciation thread if nobody has an objection..
  11. The beautiful Juliette Lewis, my earliest memory of her is this film She has her own band Juliette and the Licks, I've never heard any of her songs though..
  12. While I'm not precisely the most informed to discuss Jeff Bridges, the few movies that I've seen (Big Lebowski, True Grit, The Lookout) have left me really satisfied with his work. I recently streamed his album, it was slow paced, folk, and there was probably a SXSW performance if I recall correctly, nothing really that would made me run to the nearest store and get a copy of the album. Then there is William Shatner, Hugh Laurie, I haven't watched a single episode of House M.D., so I'm not excited about a Laurie album either, although I understand that there is a large swath of television
  13. The January 2012 issue of Blitz, a Portuguese magazine, is to contain an interview with Jeff Tweedy. Apparently the journal had the opportunity to sit down with the band while they were touring Spain, last Fall. More on that issue, including page samples, here: http://blitz.aeiou.pt/gen.pl?p=stories&op=view&fokey=bz.stories/78469

  16. I just became aware, via salon.com, of this article by Kurt Andersen in Vanity Fair, dated January 2012. Quote: The Vanity Fair article: http://www.vanityfai...of-style-201201 The salon.com feature: http://www.salon.com...ally_just_1991/
  17. Robert Plant's version of the song is featured in the TV series Boss, starring Kelsey Grammer
  18. Apparently those people were busy emailing Baseball Project fans that's why you didn't get a response About the CD ever since Jacknife Lee is (was) producing, the last two albums (three if you count the Olympia) have been awfully loud so you're doing a favor to your ears by just buying the vinyl. I haven't bought the vinyl of Accelerate (it's pricey at over $30, but I have wanted to, since it was mastered differently and sounds better than the CD).
