  3. RUTHERFORD CHANG – WE BUY WHITE ALBUMS

Posted by Eilon Paz on Friday, February 15, 2013 · 101 Comments

Rutherford has a unique vinyl collection. He only collects the Beatles first pressing of  The White Album.

I met him in Recess gallery where he exhibits his collection.

In this show Chang is creating a record store that stocks only White Albums. But rather than selling the albums, he buys more from anyone willing to part with an original pressing in any condition.

  4. Zeppelin won't reunite, what Plant said in Australia about 2014 doesn't mean that the band would reform. Other than himself, who knows what the comment actually mean?

If anybody remembers, Plant had previously said that in 2013 he would "chill for a while". What does that actually mean, when the man is actively touring and has a couple of new records up for release this year?

The two statements are kind of contradictory, it's either the reporters misquoting him or he's just speaking in code, but I would definitely rule out a reunion, Jones said in October, more or less, that "there isn't a band".

  5. It was a tragic year for music, having lost all those artists, they're irreplaceable.

But on the other hand I don't remember seeing quite a busy year in music, not in recent memory at least. All the Led Zeppelin activity, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys... Zeppelin had been dormant since the O2 concert and this year they were featured prominently in almost every print or electronic media. At the same time, I heard that it wasn't such a bad year for album sales, I remember reading that there had even been a rebound compared with CD sales of say 2009.

  6. one reason I love January is that here in southern California it brings some of the most glorious weather of the year. Today is postcard-perfect brilliant blue skies with billowing stacks of cumulus clouds, and a surprisingly warm sun

If there's something I like about California (Los Angeles area at least) is the weather, never too extreme, but then again I have lived in countries of extreme weather, from very harsh and cold winters to tropical places where the sun never seems to rest.

On the occasions that I visited California, in June for example, I could walk around the beach and enjoy the warm weather, not too hazy as, say, Houston, Atlanta or even New York.

But Winter is my favourite time of the year, which is why I like January, and February. Come April, May I'm lamenting the end of cold days (not to mention the slush that accumulates in the ground as temperatures rise and the snow can't persist anymore, I'm a winter person).

  7. Thanks a lot for all these recommendations, I plan to give a listen to some of them. Personally, I don't listen to albums from beginning to end, not that often, I listen random songs as they come up on the iPod, plus with today's extremely busy lifestyle it's becoming more and more difficult to take the time to listen to a CD. My perfect album is perhaps "Time Out" by Dave Brubeck I never get tired of it despite the passage of time.
