i need some assistance. i want to get the first stones record, but i don't know if i should get the US or UK pressing. this seems to be the case with everything up to Satanic Majesties. anybody got some advice?
I didn't pay much attention to your post until yesterday evening when I mail-ordered three Rolling Stones albums.
The U.K. track list of Between the Buttons is very different from the U.S. track list, I ended up ordering the American edition because it contained the songs I wanted (the U.K. alternative was Flowers).
For a time I considered buying GRRR instead of these three separate purchases.
I read some pros and cons: it appears as though the sound quality on GRRR is extraordinary and hasn't been affected by loudness. However, the main reason why I didn't buy this are the versions that appear on GRRR, which according to some commentators are not the same as the album versions. Another deterrent was the price of the box set and its design which seems to me bulky for just three CDs of content.

Presenting their new album on Sub Pop, The Invisible Way
30 April 2013 / 19:30Barbican HallTickets:£17.50 - 22.50Delicate and hypnotic as ever, the intimate band from Duluth, Minnesota presents music from The Invisible Way – its upcoming album produced by Wilco frontman, Jeff Tweedy and due for release on 18 Mar (Sub Pop). The Invisible Way finds Low’s majestic melancholy in full bloom yet distinguishes itself with its starker, unadorned soundscapes, layered harmonies and drummer/vocalist extraordinaire Mimi Parker singing lead on five of the 11 songs. The album tackles large issues ('the songs are about intimacy, the drug war, the class war, plain old war war, archaeology and love,' says Sparhawk) in a manner that plays a stunning counterpoint to the sublime hush of the music.http://www.barbican.org.uk/music/event-detail.asp?ID=14203

Thank you for the beautiful music you created, for generations to come.

I'm having a little trouble visualizing (audiolizing?) the Stipe selection on Wed.
I still can't believe this news that Michael Stipe the reluctant singer is going to be singing again, this really caught me by surprise, I look forward to it.

MTV in the mid nineties airing the Wild Roses video was my introduction to Nick Cave. When Murder Ballads when out of print I treasured my old copy which I acquired in 1996, then it was re-released in 2011 along with a DVD, I have yet to purchase this CD, although I've heard some reviewers say that the sound quality is actually awful and a victim of loudness. Curse of Millhaven is one of the songs I most remember from that album, it's really dark and sinister, but that's how much of Nick Cave's music is.

was a little surprised this is circulating as news today, since the AV Club announced it back in September:

good point.

It's been a good year fot the Heartless Bastards, they also did the soundtrack to Winter in the Blood.

Reminded me of a time Mr. Tweedy was called "elder statesman".

Doom and Gloom live that's something I look forward to hearing.
On the other hand, I think we're lucky to be able to watch clips of any quality, those of us who didn't attend the show. Now if a DVD/bluray came out, that'd be another story.

I disagree. Check the story of the new Mumford & Sons, became one of the best selling albums this year thanks in part to online streaming. According to an author, it sold more than Justin Bieber, at some point. If I can find that article I read I will post the link here.
In general I'm a partisan of streaming, it's not just the actual cents earnt per stream, it's the extra exposure the band receives and the people who are willing to make a purchase after they like what they heard and after repeated listens over time.
Of course, I understand if success is not the same for everyone, all cases are different.
