I would love the ticket. Please let me know if it is still available.
    Thanks

That's great, the ticket's yours. I'll put your name on it. I have 2 other people that I'm getting tickets to, plan is just to meet in line if that works. In the outside chance I can't make the show, I can email tickets.  I'll be in touch as the date gets near. I think the total for ticket was $159 or so with fees.

  2. So I'm the only asshole who actually paid $500 to be up front. I'm cool with that.

Nope, I'm the other asshole. I was seated center, right by the steps, back of first table right next to Gewee who paid $300.  Might not have gotten the front of the table because I was a single.  I suspect I would have had the same seat for $300, I was there early and only a handful of folks in front of me.  Oh well, it was a good cause.  I know there were $500 seats right up to pretty close to the show then only showed $300.  I don't remember but I think they had 23 $500 tickets and thats probably about the number at the front tables.  I'm thinking they may not have sold all the $500 tx?  Before tickets went on sale, the word was there would only be $300, the others would be sold at the charity event in person.  When they went on sale I saw the $500 which I wasn't expecting and made the quick decision to buy one.  I'm cool with it too!

  3. That's hard to say but I generally get in line 2-3 hours before doors open.  There is usually a very small group there then.  I'm sure you can show up later then that and get a good seat, just depends where you want to be.  There are good seats in the balcony also.  Weather will also be a factor of when folks get in line.  I'd head down early and if no line hang out at a local watering hole or restaurant until you need to get in line.  There are a couple of places very close where you can monitor the line.

  4. To be honest, the difference between gold and getting there early with regular seats isnt much.  I dont think i've ever gotten there before 730 and have always ended up with great seats.  A few times ended up in the row directly behind the gold circle.

You are correct, you can be sitting right behind someone that paid twice as much. I tend to spend extra and still stand in line for hours, BUT... I figure the extra I pay for gold is for a good cause!

  5. Don't mean to diminish the impact Dylan has had on music or his talent.  You are right, No Dylan, no Wilco etc.  He is certainly a musical icon.  The generation gap could be a good thing. You'd think that a guy might want to visit with someone he inspired.  I know, I probably shouldn't have stirred all this up and I probably came across the wrong way.

Also correct is the fact that I haven't followed Dylan like I should have. I don't doubt his material is great, it always has been!  I was more worked up about the live performance and Dylan's quirky ways.  Again, Dylan is a man of great talent,  I've just never seen that come through in the live shows I've seen over the years.  Maybe I just haven't been to the right shows.  Anyway, maybe I should have kept it to myself.  There was just a weird vibe I got from this show and maybe I vented the wrong way, I tend to ramble!

  6. A guy on Wilco's Facebook page posted, "My wife said Dylan sounded like The Cookie Monster wearing pajamas doing rap songs." :lol

That's funny!  I get the feeling not many but the very drunk were impressed.  there were some older fans in front of me that saw him in 1966, I didn't think they were too into it.  I think they were forcing themselves to like him.  They weren't aging hippies with no hair except a pony tail, they looked to be well off and grown up (sorry to any aging hippies if I offend, but really lose the tie-dyes and pony tails, your in your sixties!)

Again, not to bash Dylan (or old hippies :twitchsmile ), he has contributed greatly to the culture of music and inspired countless musicians but... I had to almost feel sad or sorry for him.  I get the impression that in his mind he is a god.  There are many aged musicians that have gotten better in their old age, Jonny Cash comes to mind, the American recordings series (thanks Rick Rubin) were brilliant.  The age in his voice in his last album was chilling, it was apparent the end was near.  Reminded me of my dad as he aged.  Sorry, off topic, the point is I think Dylan could have taken an entirely different path as he aged.  I think he's has put himself in a bubble and can't see what it really is.  Use your age as an advantage I say.  I can see why Dylan sheltered himself 40 years ago, but come on, get over it. I can almost understand him not wanting to get mobbed by fans now if that would even happen, but christ, give your supporting acts a nod.  Maybe even play a tune with them!

I'm sorry if I offend anyone but that just pisses me off.  RT, MMJ and Wilco pimping his shows and he won't even talk to them!  I know at least half of the crowd was there NOT to see Dylan but rather the "supporting bands". I better stop, I don't know why this bothers me so much, I don't think I knew it did.  I guess I'm just feel bad for Wilco, JT especially.  I'm sure Jeff would love to sit down and jam with Dylan.  Just the two alone in a room, that would be cool!

    I'm done... for now!

  7. Exactly.

Also, think about what it means that none of the other bands have even met him. It means that in all likelihood there's a "no eye contact with Bob" rule for everyone on the tour. The other bands/crews are probably pretty limited in backstage space and even access. This sort of thing happens more than people think. I've seen it first hand and have always considered it a dick move on the headliner's part.

That's what kinda turns me off too. I know, Dylan is Dylan, but that's bizarre not to mention pretty inconsiderate to the other bands who probably have a great deal of respect for him. I wonder how JT feels about it. He probably didn't expect anything different, but still. I couldn't decide if I was a little sad for Dylan or a little angry or both. Nevertheless I have more respect for Jeff and Wilco than any other band. They are truly real people that want to play music for there fans. Sure, Jeff can get a bit testy with unruly crowds, but he just wants the experience to be good for everyone. I'm always amazed at the connection he makes purely through his music. He will always be my musical hero as goofy as that sounds.

  8. I am inclined to agree with this. To add to the speculation, I doubt he knows he is being blown off the stage because he likely has not seen MMJ or Wilco play on the tour. Ignorance is bliss.

Well, the show was interesting. RT, MMJ and Wilco were all great. I have never seen the first 2 and was pleasantly surprised. That said, the venue and crowd bummed me out. I'm so used to seeing Wilco at smaller venues with a Wilco crowd. It's hard watching them with as much crowd noise as music. I was very distracted for that reason and several others. First off, they should ban smart phones at concerts! Sorry, but it is really getting ridiculous! I saw people just sitting and surfing the web, texting etc. not to mention holding them over their heads. Many we're so drunk they had to use them as flashlights just to make it up the stairs! Speaking of drunk, holly sh*t! By the time Dylan came on at least 1 in 3 people walking up the stairs was stumbling! I had no less than 3 people literally fall on me. I should say that at one time I may have been that person, for good reason, I no longer drink. I really felt uncomfortable at a point, the only way I can describe it is sloppy... The crowd, not the bands. I wish I had a pocket full of rocks, I would have tossed a few to get people's attention!

I made the mistake of sitting in an aisle seat. Normally good, it would have been a great seat but it happened to be the aisle everyone used to go up and down from the floor. It was like a parade, seriously, it rarely stopped and was plain dangerous the drinker people got! That was a great distraction and probably my fault for not thinking about that when I sat there. I made the mistake of buying the VIP package. If the show was at the ballpark, they would have had a section for VIP and I think early admission at 3:45. Most of us in line thought that. At the civic center, they gave us a 5 minute early admission. I really only bought that package so I wouldn't have to stand in line. The folks next to me had regular tickets. Again, my fault for paying extra. The venue filled very slowly.

Anyway, onto Dylan. It was about what I expected. The stage was nice, couldn't understand a thing he said, well a few words. I will admit that I haven't kept up with his music but it all sounded about the same to me and I had to keep myself from dosing off.. I did hear many people complaining. It was really something, the floor was packed for the first 3 bands, by the middle of Dylan's set, it was about half of what it was, at least it looked like it to me.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining so much as making observations. It really was what I expected except for the parade of people in the aisle. I can't wait to see Wilco back in their element. You kind of forget how nice a true Wilco crowd is and the etiquette at the shows. I hope everyone enjoys the upcoming shows.

  9. Hey Steve, Sounds like we are seeing eye to eye on this show. However, I am estatic the show has been moved inside. I've heard the sound for a ot of the shows have been muddy and not very loud. I think the sound will be better inside...no humidity and won't have to worry about the chance of rain that is in the forcast....it is pouring buckets right now (Champaign) anyway. Don't think I got the early entry, however, I look forward to getting a good seat. My number is 217 390 1415 if you want to keep me updated on things. :)  I too am not a Dylan fan but it will be nice to say I saw him. I've etried to get into My Morning Jacket but only a handful realy hit me...Amazed and Golden. Should be a fun night nontheless. Enjoy

Good to know about the sound, I've just been partial to an outdoor venue on occasion. I think Dylan can benefit from the improved acoustics!  I've seen him a few times, probably more than I remember!  Some absolutely terrible, some not so bad.

It's sunny here, I'm in the Quad Cities area.  Looked like the humidity is going away tomorrow, here at least. Haven't had a chance to check the Peoria forecast yet.  I think the "VIP" (A.K.A. I wasted a bunch of cash) checkin opens at 3:45 and I assume that will be entry time.  I will probably get there earlier but trying to avoid waiting in line too long.  It's always a good time in line at Wilco shows, but this may be a bit different. Plus I'm getting old and lazy!  Anyway, looking forward to it, maybe I'll see you there.

  10. Anyone Going to the Peoria show? Kinda bummed they changed venues from the ballpark to the civic center arena. Wanted to see the show outside. I bought the VIP hot ticket package or whatever. Probably a waste but early entry sounded good, I get tired of waiting in line for hours. I hope the instructions for early entry are the same at the civic center. Said to go to box office and look for check in sign. I guess I will find out.

Hope Dylan is good, never been a huge fan and have seen some pretty bad Dylan shows. I've never seen MMJ. Hope it's a good show!

  11. I think preferred B was right on saying that Jeff let some of the photo and video action go. I can't imagine him not at least mentioning it in a normal show. I can understand why he didn't want to make an issue of it at a benefit show, it would have been very awkward and probably would have been worse than the photography itself although that was terribly annoying. Especially when they aren't even smart enough to turn off the shutter sound!  I'm sure I would have been much more upset if I would have had to see all of the lighted screens in front of me. That makes me crazy!  I remember being at the Metro show in the balcony and it was a sea of phones on the floor, pretty ridiculous. I get it, as I said before, I've taken a quick video myself but I cover the screen as to not irritate others. I think they need to make an official policy about this at some point. In fact, if I'm not wrong they don't allow cameras any longer? Or is that by venue? Anyway, it's is as bad or worse than talking during the show IMO. It just gets worse too. Someone sees everyone else doing it and they feel it's okay and do it also. End rant.

  12.  to nearly getting hit by a car as I fetched a box out of the Tweedy's trunk, to passing out during the first night and rebounding for the 2nd, it was nice to be part of a larger group of Jeff Tweedy fans.  Can't wait to see some of your again at SSF and then at the benefit shows next year.

Right when I looked over and saw you running across the street I thought for sure you where going air-bound or maybe under the car! At first I was horrified, then I thought well, that might make a memorable show!  Just kidding... kinda!  A near death experience will certainly cause a guy to drink, sounds like a rough one.  I've been pretty well in the bag a few times but never passed out, at least that I can remember. There's a reason why I no longer drink! Glad you're not dead and you did better the second night.  :thumbup

  13. people are also quite comfortable shooting photos and videos with their interrogation-style flashes on full power. Here's a new question for Jeff: Do you think one audience could agree to put their electronic devices away for an entire show and survive?  This a noble challenge, people. Let's try it.

I completely agree! I thought is was terribly poor etiquette to use the flash. Really... you either don't know how to turn it off in which case you have no business using it or you just have no respect others at the show.  I was kind of surprised Jeff never said anything. I was in front so it was all behind me. I remember being at a show farther back and all you see is the screens of everyone phones etc. Very annoying.  BTW, those crappy little flashes really do no good anyway and besides, you don't shoot concerts with a flash!!! I'm a photographer and would love to shoot a show but unfortunately I don't work for a publication.  Tried to get a press pass once with no luck.  I've always wanted to shoot shows, maybe I can beg a publication to do some pro bono work and get a press pass one day. Well I digress. I will admit to taking a quick photo or video with my iPhone, but I cover the screen with my hand and rarely do it. Would have been a bit more pleasant with out all the flashing for sure!
