I wouldn't mind just one show in England. Been a long time since 2011.

The Wilco set lists page suggests this show to have had a really short set compared to previous Tweedy shows and the one played last night in Glasgow.

A typically tight Tweedy band show with Jeff in good humour throughout, occasionally being led into banter corner with the one vocal member of a very reserved though highly attentive and appreciative audience. On the menu for discussion tonight was Jeff's recollection of when Wilco last played the venue in 2011 with a fight breaking out during Rising Red Lung and his suggesting that the following Susan's research, Tweedy's were a Clan of grumpy fiddlers from the area. The venue, which has a capacity go 2475, was probably only about half full with only the arena/stalls area being used. The box office seating plan showed 90% of the seats taken earlier in the day but with the gig being part of the annual Celtic Connections Festival which has lots of members season ticket plans, this was probably the reason for so many "no shows."
The acoustics at the Royal Concert Hall are excellent and with Stan behind the board the resulting sound mix was perfect. The band set was very similar to what was played when I last saw them at Leuven in November with Honeycombed added but Pigeons & Why Why Why omitted. The encore appeared to have You're Not Alone audibled in but it was down on the setlist when I checked later. Neil Young's The Losing End was played for the first time and Woodgrain saw active service for the first time since 2003.
Great to briefly meet up with Mr & Mrs Queenie and also nice to finally introduce Mrs Pennyghael to the world of Wilco. A recording of the show will be up somewhere when I get time.
Anyway gentlemen, to bed as we rise at 8.30 for 9.00......

Looking forward to tonight's Glasgow show. Hopefully no brawling locals this time.

I went to and recorded all three shows. They used to be my favourite band growing up but I've not loved them too much since the late 90's when my tastes started to change and a certain Chicago based band pricked my interest. These shows were just a breath of fresh air and despite the sets not changing anything like the recent Wilco shows they managed to pull off three great gigs. Sunday was great, Monday less so but Tuesday was just wonderful. i haven't seen Robert so happy and talkative as he was at these. The Top songs were great, throw in a never played before b-side and some other deep cuts and hey presto I didn't mind them playing Close To Me! The shows will be up on Dime over the holidays.

Have they done the rock out Spiders and Art of Almost in the same set before? Did Jeff wear the same jacket all six nights?
Yes, exactly 3 years ago tonight, also at the Riviera.
-
Glad the band have some exposure in a UK daily but disgusted it's The S*n.
-
Hoping for some help/clarification here...someone on the Steve Hoffman Forum is wondering exactly what the "original arrangement" in the encore version of "Art Of Almost" here refers to?
Hasn't Jeff played it solo a couple of times? Quite slow and just really the first half of the song.
-
I was only attempting to dilute further from "Thank you for everything" and "ta...."
-
Just mastering and all that. Maybe in a couple of hours.
-
A more restrained British perspective:-
Ta.
Or how about Meh...
-
My expectations were fairly low as I've found Sukierae to be only ok but Tweedy blew me away live. So tightly knit and with perfect sound thanks to Stan. I've seen Jeff solo at the benefit shows but the mix for this show was something else.
The company was excellent throughout our stay and a big thanks to Mr & Mrs Sam for their wonderful hospitality and generosity. Roll on Glasgow...

A perfect show, the band as tight as hell and Jeff very chatty with lots of banter etc. I'm sure the others will elaborate. Time to turn in...

Must be the first London show when he hasn't mentioned Shepherd's Bush 97...

Nice show, pretty standard set list. They really were not a jam band tonight, concise songs and to the point. The shortest Handshake Drugs and Impossible Germany performances in a long time. Spiders was a great change up from the norm and the 2nd encore acoustic set caught most by surprise. Oh, Kingpin was a lot of fun and the reference from the iPad incident of a couple days ago rung true and made the Raleigh audience look better. Side note, I thought by getting there before 6 there would be a good shot at getting good GA seats down front but hard core Wilcoites were out in full force and we wound up in the back lawn section. Did people start lining up at 3 in the afternoon?
I'm confused. Whilst not a DEEP cuts sort of setlist, I'd say the above set was a hell of a lot better than standard. Ashes, Either Way, Hell Is Chrome, Pot Kettle Black, Cars Can't Escape & A Magazine Called Sunset have hardly been staples since 2011. Funny that the one you pick as being a change up from the norm, Spiders (acoustic), has been played a lot in recent years.

http://thequietus.com/articles/15555-tweedy-announce-london-palladium-show
Tickets available either Friday or next Monday depending on what you read - though if I don't get one after posting this to you all now I will be livid
Hurrah! (Though it might be a bit pricey)
Definitely pricey, £31.00 - £57.00

Nice
Cuddly toy?
Gggggood game, let's have a look at the old scoreboard...
-
Who's comparing, Brucie or Tarby?
-
Nice that he still did it despite being distracted. My extended stay here has forced me to probably miss out on next year's benefit shows. I miss standing in line!
Your review points out the stark differences between UK and US audiences. I never get the unsolicited yeahs that spoil the most delicate of songs. Another favourite are those who forget the songs with false endings and break into applause before the end.
You going to the LA shows?
-
Thanks, a wonderful review. Something decent to read whilst waiting to be discharged from here. Can't wait to hear the special version of Hummingbird should a recording appear.
-
It's on iTunes.

Just out of curiosity, was that Ryan Bingham's white supremacist cousin?
Get your coat...

I'll probably try & sneak a few in, & all Beatles me thinks...today I submitted "And Your Bird Can Sing"
Thinking next might be "It's All Too Much"...then I've kind of narrowed it down to "Julia", "Across The Universe" & "Two Of Us"- which I think I can sneak in on some library computers (it's all in fun & I think they are just looking for whatever seems rightest to them amidst the entries- good fun reading them all I imagine)... I know that Nels put "Paperback Writer" b/w "Rain" in his 5 favorite singles list in that Wilco '09 Tour Book, & I think I'd go for "Rain" from those two (though they are both great), if I was hoping to get one of those in by virtue of knowing that's already a real fave of someone's...
Entering into the spirit, I have bought a round Britain travel pass and will visit every public computer in the British Isles over the next month. I'm thinking of asking for Impossible Germany on each.....

Can't believe nobody rated W(TA) or TWL back on the earlier pages. What were they on?
Anyway, I've input all relevant info into my shiny new sabermetric app and I've come to the following conclusion.
AM, BT, S, YHF, AGIB, SBS, W(TA), TWL

The second recording of this show on Dime is great. Really captures the mood.
