Report: Bush mulled sending troops into Buffalo

see I don't necessarily disagree with this as much as I disagree with what I see as the implication that those who vote republican do this more often. -
Oh yeah, that Bernazard story was nuts. Has Manuel been getting as much shit as Willie Randolph did when he was manager?
-
If you get the opportunity to see them do yourself a favor and go. Excellent live band. Anyone else think it's kind of cool to hear them in the trailer for Funny People? I'm also fairly certain Seth Rogen is wearing a Wilco shirt as well.

what did Omar do tonight? I remember when Omar threw a bunch of money at pedro and beltran (who has pretty much performed to any realistic expectations, though I know many mets fans who hate him) and was a great gm. His days should have been numbered two September collapses ago.

He's out OPSing the guy we essentially replaced him in the lineup with (Emilio Bonifacio) by some .350 points. Lolz.

I have heard this before. By this logic, being half-Puerto Rican means it is merely improbable for me to be racist, right? -

What is the story on the racist guy? Edit: I'm talking about Obama. -

ok. I wasn't really being serious. I have no idea how people would have reacted, though I think it's pretty safe to say that at least some people would react to bush and Obama doing similar actions and react as I said. It's something that has been bothering me; some on the right are now absolutely outraged at actions Obama is continuing from the previous admin, while some on the left seem to have forgotten things that they spoke of in shrill tones when bush did them. I realize this is painting with broad strokes, but I don't think it is that far off. bush was an American citizen an -
Rickey's speech was great. Marlins' color guy Tommy Hutton called the sports writers who didn't vote for him 'idiots'. Yes.

I can't be the only one who finds that headline misleading. And I'm guessing if this was Obama, he would be getting praise for his 'unprecedently thoughtful ability to consider any and all options.' -
I really need to see this catch by wise...

True story. On a related note, a guy on the marlins board thinks we need to get rid of jorge cantu and get more american players. 5/8 of our everday lineup is American, and 13/25 of our roster are. But he did say 'i don't want to offend anybody, but' so it's ok, I guess.

I suppose the fact that Nolan Ryan and sandy Koufax have thrown the two most probably does a little to answer the question.
-
Because ortiz really only had one good month, and just doesn't look like an everyday player any more. One guy is 35 and has one month with an on base percentage above .300. I think laroche is a better bet to be more productive. It's not really thy big of a deal, both could go off or bust, but ortiz has a greater chance to flameout, due to his age.
-
Is that to me or mark beurhle, who just threw the second no hitter of his career. On beurhle, it is impressive that a guy who pitches so much to contact has now gotten two no hitters. It'd be interesting to go through and see whether guys like him or strikeout pitchers are more likely to throw no hitters, since beurhle's succes is so subject to the defense behind him.
-
I would say laroche, Lowell, and youk Is the best option for them. Also, mark buerhle is a pitcher for the white sox. Some people like watching him pitch. If you can, do it now.
-
they didn't trade Lugo for laroche. They traded hunter strickland, a young, 18 round 2007 pick who is a control master who projects to be back of the rotation guy and argenis Diaz an elite defensive ss who doesn't do much with the stick.
-
No! You're supposed to be angry by my provocative red sox bashing! This was all for naught... I like discussing baseball, people here like discussing the red sox (for many, almost exclusively), so I brought the red sox up. If you think I do it just to make you angry, that's cool. I guess if that's how you take it then that's how it is.
-
Which comment? The one I made in passing? I guess that was provocative. Ok, so he's not a clear improvement over ortiz. I'm sorry, I didn't realize that ortiz was amazing in june and ok in July. Like I said, it was merely a move for depth, and the red sox can afford to make moves for depth. I'm sorry for discussing the red sox, caliber. I'll stop scrambling now.

I usually don't like using first and second half splits, but it should be noted that laroche has been better, and often far better in the second half of the season. 4 out of 5 seasons.
