Let's all take a deep breath. The best conversations here will be about music and what the music brings out in all of us. I assume nobody here leaked the album. Blaming someone for taking advantage of the leak is like blaming a crack addict for not being able to resist crack. Also, most people on this website will buy the music in physical from, and see a show, and buy a t shirt. Wilco will not suffer financial from any activity on this message board. Deep breaths. We're all on the same team - Wilco. Let's all take a deep breath. The best conversations here will be about music and what

While I am glad that Wilco has given us two albums in a one-year period, I am wondering what would have happened if these were a single album, especially knowing that the material was developed aroun the same time. In other words, what if Wilco had just released a single album that looked something like this: EKG More Joke Explained Random Name Generator Pickled Ginger Normal American Kids If I Ever Was A Child Cry All Day Nope You Satellite Quarters Taste the Ceiling Locator Cold Slope King of You Magnetized

PS - Didn't mean to sound boastful (heard Schmilco, seeing Television).... Just really excited to finally be able to discuss this record with all of you, in person or digitally.

Multiple media outlets have copies. (That is how I may have heard it.). I think it has not leaked due to the sheer goodwill engendered by the band, as your posts demonstrate. (Though I am still shocked that it has not leaked.). It is that same feeling of goodwill that makes SSF so special. Even though I may have heard it, I am planning to stop by the listening session at Songbyrd in DC (cool new venue if you have not been) on Sept. 6 (before going to see Television at the 930 Club!). Holler if you're going.

Just saw this. Damn. Jazz giant, despite not being a musician. Nice piece from NYer: http://www.newyorker.com/culture/richard-brody/postscript-rudy-van-gelder-1924-2016-modern-jazzs-listener-of-genius

FWIW: If I had heard it, which I'm not saying that I have, I would tend to agree more with Mojo than Uncut.

I have always contended to a friend that if I ever created something as lyrically and sonically brilliant as Via Chicago, I would know that I had created something truly great. I love every lyric in the song, but what sends it to another plane of consciousness for me is the use of a non sequitur in the midst of an otherwise logical poetic narrative: "And crawling is screw faster lash I blow it with kisses"

If I had a media copy, and I'm not saying I do, but if I did, I would say the closest analogy is Sukierae. Definitely some good tunes and adventurous, minor chord moods. One song is aggressively difficult. Album is subdued and introspective. But worthwhile. That is after two listens. Will check in after four listens. That is, if I had heard it, which I'm not saying that I have.

Great stuff, unifiedtheory! My goal was to get a set list up as quickly as possible, so with some further reflection, please allow me to add some notes in support/addition to yours: -- This was one of the most respectful audiences I have experienced in my 25+ Wilco shows. I live on the East Coast, and shows up and down I-95 have tended to have way too much chatter in recent years. The Moorehead crowd was better. Having been raised in a town about an hour north of the venue, I suspect this was a combination of reverence and good manners. In any event, it enhanced my enjoyment very much.

First of all, Happy 5th Anniversary to Jay Welsh and Darby. And Happy Brithday, Dave! William Tyler was great. Wilco was very relaxed and fun. Jeff barely spoke (for Jeff). Solid show. Great, great venue. Set list: More Random Name Generator Joke Explained IATTBYH Art of almost Pickled Ginger Hummingbird Handshake Drugs Cold Slope King of You Via Chicago Spiders Jesus If I Ever Was a Child Locator Box Full of Letters Heavy Metal Drummer I'm the Man Who Loves You Impossible Germany The Late Greats (Acoustics Encore) Misunderstood We've Been Had War on War I'm Always in Love California

Anyone going? I am visiting family and taking my brother to his first Wilco show. Will post set list / review. If you are a VCer and see a guy in an orange Kaysettes t shirt, please introduce yourself. Patrick

theashtraysays: Your post is eerie. I am sometimes on a music podcast. We recorded one re Blackstar on Thursday. Listening to the conversation today sent chills down my spine, for reasons similar to what you described. Seeing what you wrote, I feel compelled to offer the link below. I'm struggling with this more than I have struggled with a celebrity death in a while, perhaps since Jay Bennett died (not comparing Jay and Bowie, of course). Maybe Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but again, he did not have anything close to the cultural impact that Bowie did/does; I was just a huge fan. Even Lo

YOUR "Best of 2015" Spotify playlists: post 'em here

Re crashing: I have found that the best bets are to (1) make sure your operating system is up to date, if you are using a smart phone; and (2) delete the Spotify program/app and then re-install it. These two actions have fixed every problem that I have experienced. -

I make periodic playlists and then track them in one longer annual playlist: https://open.spotify.com/user/patrick_jacobi/playlist/2JKA4RoEzwydSDlNKXoM4P Most recently, I have been obsessed with the Fururebirds and Phil Cook albums and think VCers would like them very much. -
Quite an honor. Can't really believe it. Thanks for reading, everyone. Also, allow me to plug generally the Chunky Glasses site, to which I merely contribute. The coverage and podcasts are great.
