  1. Nah it sucks (I've only heard the samples too).
  2. You dismiss this album as "shit", then ask for a link to it. Which would mean...you haven't heard it, but think it's shit. Okay. What an informed voice! (And 20 second samples on Amazon do not count).
  3. That character is pure genius! Pure fucking genius!
  4. It's just a half hour Weekend Update (live, I think). Not a success, as the commercial breaks kill the momentum.
  5. Seriously though - 'Beth'.
  6. In this era of too much everything, I have to give props to SNL for remaining relevant enough to be discussed as much as it is. It could easily have gone the way of MADtv, Fridays, etc. by this point. But Lorne Michaels has some kind of foresight (or staff) that manages to grasp onto cultural significance. Even if the discussion is 'SNL sucks now' it means people are still watching. And, 'SNL sucks now' was probably first uttered halfway through the first season.
  7. Some rock writer whose name I can't recall wrote an anti-KISS essay that followed this line of thought...read it in the early '90s or thereabouts...wish I could remember who it was...titled something like Why KISS Is The Worst Band Ever...Legs McNeil maybe? Pretty sure it wasn't Lester Bangs, but he's the only other possible name I can think of...
  8. I watched innings 7-9 at a bar and followed the rest at home via ESPN's web thing (no TBS at home). The two innings I watched were incredible. Just what I hoped for: everyone bringing their A game. Wish I could've seen the whole thing. Tigers' ninth: Santiago's bunt/dive into first, barely safe, then the strikeout and followup double play that ended the inning and Nathan pumping his fist - probably the most exciting half-inning I saw all year. A Boston reporter wrapped it up well: "now the Twins are heading to New York to face the Yankees...good luck with that."
  9. Topical comedy should always be judged by when it was new, and fresh. Belushi in the bee costume was funny because the entire country at the time was high on cocaine (fact - look it up).
  10. I think Randy Quaid was a part of that fiasco, too.
  11. That was the Dream Team year.
  12. I can understand - I just find him lovable, like he doesn't take the whole thing too seriously. Kristin Wiig, while talented, I can picture in her dressing room staring at herself in the mirror repeating "you're funny...you're funny..." I don't even know what I mean.
  13. I'd like to hear Tweedy cover 'Beth'.
  14. Todd your kids are awesome. If a kid showed up for tricks and treats at my door dressed as 2D, I'd have no candy left for any other kids.
  15. Keenan Thompson? His bits are about the only reason I watch. I love the French Def Jam comic. The opener, with U2 and that Maxim magazine girl hosting had exactly zero laughs outside of Thompson.
  16. I'm endlessly fascinated by peoples' need to pit Radiohead and Wilco against each other. I just don't get it.
  17. Michael: (into phone) Really? And all the guys like her, huh? That is - that is - that is great. Uh, you mean “away,” though, right? Because, otherwise, it sounds a little different, but, uh, that’s, uh, that’s outstanding. You forgot to say “away” again. But listen, let me call you back in a bit, okay? Bye. (to Lindsay) Nellie has blown them all away.
  18. You realize you're saying this to somebody who just let you know that he's going through a divorce and the album means a lot to him right now. You're not going to win that argument. It isn't science.
  19. Absolutely easier said than done. But time and new experiences will aid you. Good luck. Oh and lots of this may help too:
  20. So, if one looks at the differences between these two albums in a certain way - i.e., In Rainbows as primitively artistic and Wilco the Album as a discussion of self awareness...one will clearly appreciate Wilco the Album more? Can you try to start it, too?
  21. If for you - at this point - friendship potentially means "Is there a chance we will get back together?", then friendship - at this point - is not a healthy choice for either of you. I'd tell her you think you both need time apart, allowing perspective, before moving forward with an established "this is our relationship is now" statement.
  22. Spectacular. Did you edit using that same batch of filters you used recently? The feel is incredibly close to the original.
