  1. Little known fact: Teddy Roosevelt's Secretary of State was a mountain lion.
  2. That reminds me of the baby who didn't cry when he was born, and never made a sound as he grew from infancy to toddlerhood, and beyond. Doctors couldn't figure him out - he didn't seem to have any learning disabilities, and was otherwise well-adjusted. He was just silent. Finally, at the breakfast table one morning when he was 7, he looked up from his plate. "My toast is burnt." His parents, shocked, weeping, asked why he never said anything before. "Well, everything was alright up until now."
  3. And fittingly, on Nat's birthday weekend, I came across an artist who works exclusively in tin foil at my local Open Studio event. Had to take a pic:
  4. The Moore/Beck comparison is valid to a point. My own leanings are at the heart of that 'point', I think.
  5. I don't know the deal on it - I do recall when I first saw it a couple of years ago there was some brouhaha about it though.
  6. Are you sure that wasn't just an ad for American Apparel?
  7. I know what you mean - it's like reading someone's masturbation.
  8. Just started this. His pop culture-saturated thought process is close enough to my own that I find myself (perhaps unfairly) cutting him no slack. I think I'm reading this like an editor would, and finding a lot to nitpick about. Like: Saying Cal Ripkin, Jr. looks "impossibly young" in his rookie card just seems lazy to me. Someone said "impossibly young" once, and it was brilliant. It's theirs (whoever it was). No one else should use it. I'm trying to be less critical though. The book is highly readable.
  9. Great now I have an effin' Charlie Manson song in my head. OUT!
  10. I recall Mackenzie Phillips on Howard Stern revealing that she had sex with Mick Jagger the night of her 18th birthday. According to her, Mick said "I've been waiting 18 years for this." Girl's had some kinda fucking crazy life.
  11. Then she would've been on Springer instead of Oprah.
  12. I don't doubt that they nailed the newsroom atmosphere - particularly the state the publishing world is in now, with layoffs and "do more with less" pep talks. But the story arc is what I think draws the Law & Order comparisons. The season was mostly successful to me, if convoluted. It felt like the final season, and that's always a little disappointing. Speaking of the newsroom, you never hear people talk about Gus. Gus is the man!
  13. Did you read the RS piece about the Live Anthology? Petty was a madman for recording his shows, even at the start. Sounds like a pretty wild collection he's put together.
  14. Good God!! NP - all of the second disc....Me & My Monkey...oh my God!
  15. NP - Helter Skelter mono remaster. this is ...whoahhhh........NP - Long Long Long mono remaster. Holy shit. I take anything I ever said about the mono versions back.
  16. Indeed it is saying a lot - especially after going to 'Find Member's Threads' in your profile, IRDB.
  17. Great pics. I need to write a review of this show (night 2).
  18. Wow man - I hadn't checked out your site in awhile. You went bigtime!
