I guess I see this as different - arguably the most eagerly anticipated new album of the year, is (officially!) essentially free. Kinda wild.

I don't see anything about paying there - it looks like free stuff.

C'mon, I've bought vinyl with a CD included. And I've heard of free digital download codes coming with a vinyl purchase. But a pay-what-you-want digital download without having to buy anything else? Who's done that?

I watched it this morning - wonderful. Love that room. Love the way Schwartzman discards the chocolate wrapper. The bruises are disturbing. Love the toothpick.

I don't think the Kanye sample had anything to do with that - I might be wrong though.

Not sure how you define mainstream, but I'm not surprised if a Kanye sample gives them more exposure - hell, a Dylan sample on a Kanye album would give Dylan more exposure at this point.

I'd like to see a movie based on George's trip to St. Louis in 1963, pre-(American)Beatlemania, to visit his sister.

I've always found it interesting that they chose "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" as the song for the Brian tribute montage in the Anthology - sort of a nod and a wink to something that's never been verified.

I'm a fan - Homework was a big deal when it came out, sounded like nothing else, and the videos were great. I was equally obsessed with Discovery, but that cooled off when my friend played me a disc of the songs that they built that one from, and the tunes were just too similar for me to continue thinking the guys were geniuses. Kanye uses that sample for "Stronger" pretty well.

I keep meaning to mention that movie to see if anyone else has seen it - the B/W one, right? John & Brian's planeride, John flirting with a stewardess, Brian getting jealous, John saying "she's just a bird, Brian. Just a bird." I can't remember anything else about it.

Holy crap...really? DVD?

Word to that - I've been the victim of that one, and it's still funny as hell from the business end.
