That's what I was trying to get at. Yeah there are other revenue streams, but nothing compared to tour revenue. Plus those "other" streams likely go primarily to Tweedy. I'd guess the band members make a couple hundred K per year (from Wilco) and Tweedy is around seven figures.
I imagine as salaried musicians the rest of the band makes enough to cover mortgages, support families/raise kids, and carry on with various musical side projects without having to worry too much about turning a profit (or breaking even, really). I seem to remember that salaries are briefly mentioned in the Kot book.

MMJ kills it every time I see them...just love JJ he is a Rock Star.
Did anyone see them profiled on CBS Sunday Morning a few weeks ago?
I've only seen MMJ once, a few years ago. JJ was wearing a velvet cape and sporting a pair of silver cap guns. Anyone else would look like a tool (unless they were 4 yrs old), but somehow he made it work.

I'm lukewarm on The Doors, so I mostly appreciate Ray for producing the first four X albums.

Here's something to chew on: tens of thousands of people fail existing background checks every year. How many are prosecuted? Forty or 50. It's a farce.
So... every year background checks prevent tens of thousands of unqualified folks from buying guns from licensed gun dealers. I wonder how many of those folks then say, "Oh, well - can't buy a gun from a brick-and-mortar licensed gun dealer. No gun for me, I guess."

September 1982. Up until then I was a casual listener of late 70's--early 80's FM rock (Styx, Kansas, Skynyrd, etc.) - this album opened the floodgate to music that changed my life.

Every firearm sold in this nation began with a background check.
But not every firearm sold in this nation ended with a background check.

Saw her years ago (1988 or 1989?) when she opened for Billy Bragg and I remember being a bit put-off by her rants against organized religion - guess she's done a 180 since then.

I love the example he has of a White Album that someone painted white, as if the owner thought his copy wasn't white enough. It also got me thinking about the different approaches you could take to collecting White Albums - you could go for low-numbered copies (really low numbers can sell for thousands of dollars, though), or if you're really nuts you could try & collect consecutively-numbered copies.

He has a storefront in Soho for this, has to be more than several hundred dollars a year for that.
The Soho storefront is actually an art gallery
