My boyfriend and I are both HUGE Wilco fans, and I remember a month into dating I played "Reservations" for him (our relationship is beyond complicated at this point) and he cried. This past weekend I was over at his place and played "Far Far Away" and "Millonaire"(he's changed to she's of course) while we were sitting up on the roof of the building and he told me he loved me for the first time...
just kidding, thats really sweet

If anyone figures out how to play Hey Chicken live, I'd love to hear about it.
I heard that Jeff might have told someone that it's never been played live.
i remember reading/hearing somewhere that jeff said it took 6 or so guitars hitting the sme chord/note to make that sound

outside of wilco, i would have to say sea change by beck and z by my morning jacket

tonight i saw the indie movie "once" starring the frames' glen hansard (also was the guitarist in the commitments) and i must say that it was a hell of a movie. great music, great story, and great acting. the movie outline from imdb.com is:
"A modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story."
if memory serves me correctly, i remember richard roeper said this movie took $40,000 to make and it has raked in over $4 million.

set list: (not exactly in order, but close enough)
i've got a flair
no better place
denise
someone to love
fire in the canyon
hackensack
hey julie
strapped for cash
traffic and weather
mexican wine
stacys mom
yolanda hayes
I-95
radiation vibe
survival car
encore:
it must be summer
leave the biker
sink to the bottom
wasnt a bad concert, wasnt a great one either. couldnt hear chris's vocals much for the first half. i think the songs off of traffic and weather are better live than off of the album (which personally im not the biggest fan of to begin with). the opening act, stephen kellogg and the sixers were great. they put on a good show and their music is really great.

here is a bulletin thax douglas posted:
I am listening to the self titled This Is Me Smiling record. It's so great-sophisticated intelligent pop that unlike the new Wilco record does not sound like they just threw their record collection in a blender.
This is just part of the pop renaissance in Chicago.
Another shocker is how much fun all ages shows are now.
It used to mean an endless stream of Screeching Weaselisms.
Not anymore.
last saturday I went to read for Tom Schraeder and all 3 of the other bands were incredible-Company of Thieves, Dorian Minor and Real Lunch-I understood the cliche breathtaking, cause I could barely take it all in. Where were the empty cliches? The cynicism? The would be commercial boredom? Nowhere.
This is me Smiling-you can sense the intelligence like watching a hump in the river where an oter is swimming just under the surface. If Fountains of Wayne leaves you feeling like you've just eaten a ranced Big Mac, I would reccomend This Is Me Smiling
Let's hope it lasts awhile before our indie rock elite come and spoil it all-but so far the creatures seem unaware that this is happening under their sore-snouts.
As far as I know I'm the only one who can tell something important is going on. There are no Everett True's covering this scene for NME-yet.
But speaking of fagazines- I went to Borders recently and looking at all the expensive music magazines was an emetic experience. I can hardly respect somone who would spend ten dollars for this shit-and every magazine features the same names. It would be like spending ten dollars to watch an informercial. And the fucking airbrushing! On one cover Jeff Tweedy lookslike the Cat in the Hat-on another Conor Oberst looks like a Gorey drawing.
i take it he doesnt like the new album?

We have played at the Old Town School Of Folk Music, The Taste of Chicago and as far as Marquette University. Hope you guys listen to us and leave us some feedback!

I thought the same thing. I didnt' see him in the Hate it Here video either. I do think he is playing though because i thought I heard an organ or some sort of electric piano in the mix.
