  1. I know how you feel...in a quite selfish way, I don't want them to become mainstream popular either....

i kind of feel the same way, but then again its not a total god-awful thing for them to go mainstream.

on another note, didnt A Ghost Is Born debut at #8 and YHF #13. i dont know if that means anything about popularity and records being sold, but i think its a good thing.

  2. to me, the album starts out great with "someone to love" then slowly goes downhill from there. subaru 92 and yolanda hayes are good, but after that a huge drop-off. like my high school trig teacher said, "it seems that they just recycling their music"

  5. to get a better picture, one might do well to read the poem with the title "Impossible Germany" in Tweedy's Adult Head. i think that is the title. i know a lot of the lines from A Ghost Is Born are in those poems...

    -justin

ya its got the title but most of that poem is in loose fur's "wanted"

  6. I'd put The Arcade Fire up there with them, but other than that these guys are pretty much at the top of the game.

Others who I would put up there with them:

    Radiohead

    The Flaming Lips

    Beck

    The Decemberists.

agree on flaming lips and beck...dont really listen to decemberists or the arcade fire...the only band i would add is my morning jacket

  7. Y'know, we spent very little time talking about Wilco or Jeff's professional life (except for his anecdotes about band members -- I loved his his description of how Glenn is constantly on his cell phone). To my knowledge, no one asked him about his tour or even about the new record. For us, it is all about playing the music. I know... we're weird. But trust me, you'll get the answers to those questions from next week's show.

it wasnt glenn being on the cell phone all the time, it was the drummer for the roots

  8. ask him lots of questions about the new album. like if you are my face is lets not get carried away.

and ask him about the songbook.

and details of the spring/summer tour.

lets not get carried away will not be be on the album. last night was great sooo much fun. im very good at re-telling stories, but i think someone who was there should re-tell the nintendo wii idea he had.

  9. AL Central: Chicago White Sox (totally biased, but I think they have a decent shot)

    AL West: Oakland A's

    AL East: NY Yankees

    AL Wild Card: Detroit Tigers

    NL Central: St. Louis

    NL East: NY Mets

    NL West: San Diego Padres

    NL Wild Card: Philadelphia Phillies

Chicago White Sox defeat the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2007 World Series

as far as the Cubs go, i dont know about anyone else but i really do hope their over-spending bites them in the butt. i think it will be fun to watch soriano in cf.

  10. yep, those be the tabs-direct from the best wilco-song-figurin'-out-ninja i know. does sensei know you posted his tabs? he might just slap you in the throat. (just kiddin') ;)

then again, don't think he ever looks at via chicago, let alone posts a dang thing. to busy rockin'. correct me if you're out there BG.
