does anyone have a complete list of all of these? i see there are some Jeff Tweedy ones too but I can't figure out if I've gotten them all or not...
nugs website is not in any sort of order...
Boy, am I glad you asked! Ha! Who else would keep a list around here? 🤦🏻♂️
Here is an ongoing list that I culled from Nugs.net’s emails, Facebook & Instagram posts. I’m only missing 2 months (Jan/Feb 2020). For some reason, there’s no information to be found for those two months.
It’s entirely possible that there is an error in my March 2020 listing which has both 2010 Montclair “An Evening With” shows released on the same day.
You’ll also see in my notes when it switched to a quarterly thing.

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing this masterpiece in IMAX today. I was only
6 when it came out, so huge thanks to A24 for bringing it back! I hadn’t watched it in a long time, so that was nice.
Run to it! At my local megaplex, it’s sharing the IMAX auditorium with Barbie this weekend and The Creator is coming on Friday the 29th in IMAX, so it looks like a 1 week IMAX engagement around where I am. However, it is getting a wider release on the 29th on regular screens, as I’m sure you’ve read.
Nice to check something off the bucket list…

There was no cell phones the last time around. It did sound catchy.
I just read that they did perform I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For in between takes of the new song. I guess that music video was filmed on the same exact street: Fremont. Looks different, but I guess that’s what 36 years does to a place like Vegas…
I also found out that those were paid extras to be in the crowd. Not sure if they were told to take out their smart phones to make it look authentic.

That's interesting.
Yeah, very interesting. The song is in the same wheelhouse as The Miracle Of Joey Ramone, but I like this tune a bit better. Looking forward to hearing the single without all of the audience noise.

They were the last intact (famous) band (since Dusty - ZZ Top - passed). I have to wonder if that will be permanent. The same thing happened with Cheap Trick and now Aerosmith (stand in drummers that is).
As I was about to reply to you, I was perusing FB and saw a YouTube video of U2 (with Larry!!) performing a new song, Atomic City, on Fremont St in Vegas last night. Looks like it was a music video shoot.
Wow! This is getting odd. Larry is there for the music video shoot. Hmm. One of the dirty rumors from this past year was that Larry had already left the band, but the fans didn’t realize it yet. This must be mostly PR to keep things looking like everything is ok for a potential 2024 tour that would feature Larry.

Well, I’ll bring some good news…a rumor recently surfaced about a new U2 single that is set to drop on September 29th (the opening day of their Las Vegas residency at The Sphere).
I’ve read that the band (minus Larry Mullen, Jr.) arrived in Vegas the day after Labor Day to begin rehearsals and are traveling to Los Angeles after rehearsals to finish up mixing this single.
Good news: Larry recorded drum beats to use for future recordings, before he had his surgery, so he should be on this.
The (sorta) Bad News: U2’s Instagram story a few weeks ago had music that sounded like an updated intro to Ultraviolet (Light My Way). Are they re-recording it? Could be. The residency is named U2-UV.
It’d obviously be great to have an entirely new song. I think most people are over them trying to “reimagine” their own catalog to keep putting out, while they scramble to figure out the next step.
There’s also the big possibility that they miss the rumored date and it comes out before the end of the year.
Re: Larry missing Vegas - Yeah, I was extremely upset when I heard the rumors which turned out to be true. That was one of the things that they seemed to take pride in: always being the same 4 guys since high school. I know that it is/was a point of pride for the fanbase.
I’ve seen tons of backlash online all over social media, as I’m sure most expected to see, including myself. However, I think almost every Vegas show is a near sellout.
I don’t have tickets. I’d really love to go to visit the recently announced Zoo TV exhibit at one of the casinos and catch the screenings of 5 U2 related films with rare concert & studio footage, etc.

The National (Homecoming festival - Day 1); w/ Patti Smith, The Walkmen, et al
I found out 2 nights ago through the YouTube comments of the Space Invader video that Laugh Track (their next record) was due out sometime this month. Maybe even as soon as next week. Could it be true?…I saw that they were road testing a bunch of new songs this past summer. And I had read that they recorded enough tunes for another record.
As I was checking Google for tonight’s setlist, it looks like they announced the new record at tonight’s gig. And it’s coming digitally late Sunday night/early Monday morning. Awesome!
Really nice looking setlist you got! All of High Violet! 👍- 1

Maybe "Soldier Child" and "Child Soldier" will end up like "Outtasite (Outta Mind)" and "Outta Mind (Outta Sight)."
It’s entirely possible, but I think it’s more of a case of Susie asking Jeff what the name of the song was and him saying something like “I haven’t decided on Child Soldier or Soldier Child yet.”
The lyrics go “I fought like a child
Soldier fights to forget
What it’s like to be home.” , according to WilcoWorld.
I can see from the lyrics how it could have gone either way, but I also haven’t listened to the two Tweedy Show versions in a bit either. Possible he flipped “child” and “soldier” in the lyrics.

Ok this post has been updated, thanks again for u2roolz pointing out that Pittsburgh and Soldier Child has been played on TTS. I also found an earlier version of Soldier Child from episode 175. Also some people have been uploading videos of songs from episodes that didn't get uploaded, so I was able to add links for most of the missing songs. If I missed anything else let me know, I will keep updating.
Very nice catch! You know I had a hazy memory that he did do Soldier Child twice, but on Monty’s list it’s only listed once as Soldier Child for episode 217. The funny thing is it’s on his list as Child Soldier for episode 175 (like you noticed) which is how it is in my notes, but I haven’t searched for it like that because I totally forgot about that. I’m guessing Jeff called it Child Soldier the first time that he played it and/or was also considering calling it Soldier Child. 🤷🏻♂️ Feels like that first time he did it was 5+ years ago and not 2.
I’m considering doing a deep dive into the untitled songs and others that don’t have a home. There’s got to be at least 10–12 of them that don’t have an official recording yet. There are definitely a few that have made it to his Substack.
Lastly, one of the reasons why I’m curious is because I totally missed that he did Many Worlds on episode 168, but it didn’t have a title yet and I had it listed as “when I look at the sky”. -

Excellent breakdown! This helps a lot!
But I want to mention that he did do Pittsburgh (episode 183) and Soldier Child (episode 217) on The Tweedy Show.
Thank you for the kind words!

The full Uncut review of Cousin has been posted over in the FB group via Fiona Ev (not sure if she’s in here) in the UK. It’s an extended review of the one that Blackberry Rust posted a couple of days ago.
It gets tough to read near the crease. Tom Waits is on the cover. I think this issue hits the States next month. I haven’t been to a Barnes & Noble recently, so I’m not sure which issue they have out right now. If it helps, this issue is dated as October.
edited: You might as well skip down to Vince’s reply with the much better & smoother pic and avoid the neck pain.👇

-- Jeff tells a story about being on the side of the stage at the Calgary Folk Festival with Scott McCaughey. Jeff says that there was a young woman performing in matching outfits with her band that looked like they walked off the Grand Ole Opry. They were being very well received by the audience which made Jeff nervous because he was on next. Jeff turned to Scott and said "I'm doomed." And Scott told Jeff "I'll bet there will be people here for you, but it's not looking good."
-- Jeff mentions to Susie that they have an anniversary coming up very soon.
Cathedrals (The Handsome Family cover sung by Sammy. Spencer on drums & backing vocals.)
—Jeff & Spencer jam out on the riff to Free’s All Right Now. Jeff says that it's the best chord in rock n roll.
-- Jeff shows the vinyl of Cousin to the clients. He says the artwork probably won't be used for the European tour's backdrop starting next week. He also says that he loved working with Cate LeBon.
-- Jeff reveals that he recorded an album with Spencer, Sammy and Cate LeBon under a secret band name that he can't reveal yet.

-- Jeff tells Susie that he wants to do a podcast with her.
Powderfinger (Neil Young cover. Spencer on drums & backing vocals.)
-- Jeff says that Scott McCaughey recently did an opening set that featured 60% Neil Young: songs by him & about him.

—Jeff & Spencer play an instrumental portion of Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On.
-- Spencer says that he can't stop thinking about Cousin. Susie asks Jeff if he named it after Cousin It. Jeff proclaims that he did not name it Cousin after The Bear's character nickname. They all say they love The Bear and are huge fans of Christopher Storer. Spencer says that Ebon Moss-Bachrach ("Richie") is his favorite actor on The Bear. Spencer mentions that Christopher Storer wrote, produced & directed a Funny Or Die sketch about The Blisters.
Half-Asleep (Spencer on drums & backing vocals. Sammy on backing vocals.)
Words (Low cover sung by Sammy. Spencer on drums & backing vocals. Jeff on electric guitar.)
-- R.I.P. to Mimi Parker (Low) who passed away last November.
No Matter What (Badfinger cover sung by Spencer & on drums. Sammy & Casey on backing vocals. Jeff on electric guitar.)
In The Street (Big Star cover sung by Sammy. Spencer on drums & backing vocals. Jeff on electric guitar.)
Evicted (Spencer on drums. Jeff on electric.)
Reincarnation (Roger Miller cover)
Got pleasantly surprised & caught off guard about there being a show tonight. I found out 10 minutes before. Anyways, I’ll do the notes later, but here are the songs that were played.
For now some tidbits: Jeff showed the vinyl artwork for Cousin and also mentioned that he, Cate Le Bon, Spencer & Sammy have recorded something (an album, I believe he said.). He might’ve mentioned that they used a secret name. Total episode was about 70 minutes.

I guess that National Cousins Day idea is as good as any... only because Google tells me both National Vanilla Pudding Day and National Chocolate Pudding Day already passed. (May 22 and June 26, evidently!)
Damn! What good is having an iCalendar on my iPhone without these important dates included?! Do better, Tim Apple!
Anyways, I regret to inform you that we all missed National Bowls Day on June 3rd. Pretty sure that was just a Canadian holiday, but I would have celebrated if I had known…
edited for justice purposes: what about National Butterscotch Pudding Day?

My money is on announcing the new record on National Cousins Day which happens to be on a Monday. Monday the 24th of July.
I also realized recently that Jeff performed another song from the upcoming record on The Tweedy Show: Meant To Be. That one was done on Episode 165 and was untitled, but featured the line “our love is meant to be.” Pretty sure it’s the same song.

This was quite the film to experience in a theater. I found myself alone in the auditorium and was completely entrenched in the story, even if some of it lost me several times throughout. However, this type of film is just what I needed to exercise that part of my “cerebrally ambitious film” muscle that hasn’t had much to do in the past decade or so. I think it hasn’t had a work out since Charlie Kaufman came onto the scene. I’m sure I’m forgetting some recent examples, but the whole experience was a breath of fresh air amongst the endless superhero films (which I love) & neverending bland Netflix Originals that become quite forgettable.
I will say that I truly loved the first 45 minutes or so of this one. It felt like a modern day After Hours (Scorcese). [side bar: check out Marty moderating a discussion of the film with Ari Aster, the director, after a screening. It’s up on YouTube.]
Being forced to sit through the whole duration was a true test of patience. I found myself having to get up and walk around at some point. It’s a good thing I was by myself. The anxiety it makes you feel is legit. I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack or a stroke. It became too much, but once I left the theater I had realized that no film has done that to me in a long time. I certainly don’t feel this way when a superhero has to face the villains because we always know what’s going to happen….for the most part.
Joaquin Phoenix turns in another fantastic performance. Ari Aster made a remarkable film here that is sure to polarize folks. Geez, there are parts in here that I don’t like, but I’ll see how it is on a second viewing at home. I won’t spoil the overall theme(s) of the film, but some of it is quite hilarious. That ending though…wow! I saw it two weeks ago and it’s still lingering in my mind.
