  1. The first real concert I ever attended was Yes (in the round) at the International Amphitheater in Chicago in 1977. I saw them again in Champaign in around 1979. Loved Yes in the 70's then quickly moved on and grew out of them Chris Squire was an incredible musician. RIP.

I think I was at both of those shows. 77 was when they debuted the rotating stage. Thought our seats were about half way back then got there and saw that the stage was right in front of us. Didn't know too much about them at the time but the show was pretty good.

79 I came over from normal with some friends. I think I saw them maybe a year later in champaign too. This was with the buggles guys playing. Lost interest in prog rock about then.

  3. I'm pushing 55 and have a rather large collection on all kinds of media, primarily cd's. I still love to listen but because of time and commitments I have much less time to devote to it than in the past, but I view that as just part of my maturation process. Any how these days I find myself primarily listening casually at work. I'll bring a selection for each day, but because of the environment I don't listen intently. I do tend to listen more seriously while driving, mowing the lawn, working out etc...

What I've also found is that my buying habits have changed. Most of the adventurism of my youth is gone, now I tend to focus on reissues and other older music that I had not heard or purchased previously. Occasionally I'll go for something totally new but those purchases are getting fewer and further between.

  4. Micks story could also be revisionist song writing. I thought it was about coke and the road. Mick has kids and grand kids etc... And might be trying to clean up his past for them. Arnold and Bette Midler have tried, why not Mick?

  5. Didn't realize Neil supported Reagan at one time --- yeah I heard worst Neil songs - but that's not saying much.

At the time I thought this was parody because he was doing the country music thing and that's expected of country musicians.

  6. 1970 - the Beatles
    1975 - the Beatles/sir Paul
    1980 - Pink Floyd>the clash
    1985 - the replacements
    1990 - replacements
    1995 - rem
    2000 - wilco
2005 - no one in particular
2010 - no one in particular
2015 - no one in particular

I don't know that any are important in My life but these are some that I listen to more than others.

Edit: I need to add that regardless of which bands dominated my life for these periods I have to say that Springsteen, The Beatles, The Stones, And Neil Young have always been there.
