Godwin's Law: As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.
Also,
There is a tradition in many online discussion forums that once such a comparison is made, the thread is finished and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically "lost" whatever debate was in progress. This principle is itself frequently referred to as Godwin's Law. Thus Godwin's Law effectively serves to impose an upper bound on thread length in general.Thread over.

But I'd like to see Teemu bag a cup.
Ditto.

it's a hit with me
great record, might be my fav cd so far this year

BTW, awesome avatar. I wish I had that original poster.

Close, but no cigar. Let's try this:
Sky Blue Sky is to A Ghost is Born what Silver And Gold is to Broken Arrow.
Much better.
-
Brokeback Mountain is R-rated over there?
-
Are you serious?
Yes. However, I'm only familiar with Uncut, Mojo, Q and NME. Also, it's true that Uncut has been on a steady decline for awhile, but then again so have most music magazines.
-
Uncut is probably the worst of the british music magazines.
I think you misspelled 'best'.

i have a theory that he was holding back his best stuff for Sirens, thus why we got what we got on the last DBT record (which wasn't all that great of an album to begin with, no matter what you say about Jason's contributions. it's easily their weakest of the last 4)
I wish they would've included When The Well Runs Dry in ABAAC.

The National - Boxeryup, me too.

In Shakey, Neil claims that he recorded the vocal for Will To Love, "in one sitting, in front of the fireplace.... I have never sung it except for that one time."
Thanks, it's been awhile since I read Shakey so I wasn't sure if it had some extra information about Will To Love. I have always loved that song, so I'd love to keep imagining Neil in front of that crackling fireplace, singing that song for the first and only time.
-
Yes, except he snapped pencils for the effect.
Was this in Shakey? I can't seem to remember ever hearing other explanation than the fireplace crackling.
-
(best use of snapping pencils as an instrument EVER, on Will To Love).
You mean the crackling fireplace?

Voxtrot - s/t
for me too. Definitely not on par with RBW and MSD&W, but still pretty tasty.
I sorta wish they'd released all the early stuff as their first LP, cause that would've been album of the year material for sure.
-
Absolutely cannot wait for Boxer. Hopefully they continue the trend of improving with every release
Album of the year?
Another harvest of Neil Young

Yes, that's true. It's a close call anyway, but at the moment ASNB has the edge, largely thanks to the higher highs (LAH, SoB, WtL). Also: ASNB > SBS > Harvest.
