  1. i still haven't checked that one out... just found out they're coming to denver next month with dirty on purpose. np:
  2. it may be because i was introduced to the hold steady through separation sunday, but i prefer it to almost killed me. boys & girls trumps both, though... imo.
  3. great album... np: a scene begins with a hermit's melody sung by a bashful bird i'm in a violet sky there are no words but there's understanding it's been so long since i've heard that pretty voice raise up the lights and enter here oh girl she makes me call god she makes me call then she hears the song and she starts singing it's been so long since i've heard that pretty voice strike up the band here comes the story line about the usual struggle between fear and love this is the life long song we're all singing it's been so long since i've heard that pretty voice when it
  4. this really fucking sucks. son volt is playing 4/7 in boulder (not with jason isbell, but with MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC CO.!!!!!!!) but. menomena and deerhunter are playing the same night (oh, and that's two separate shows, mind you). i don't know what to do...
  5. i've got to check out that lavendar diamond... i've also got to get to bed... np:
  6. well, i'm probably the wrong person to answer (i'm a total jenny lewis fangirl), but if you like some good alt-country-ish stuff with beautiful harmonies, check our her solo album, rabbit fur coat. if you're a fan of some good indie pop, check out rilo kiley - i suggest in the following order: the execution of all things more adventurous take offs & landings though i love all 3 albums...
  7. i was really surprised to find out that the meaning of 8 will be their 5th album! more music to check out. they're coming to denver in may!
  8. i care. i get to see them in a month or so.
  9. apparently i am all about the shins and cloud cult tonight.....
  10. partly because i am tipsy, and partly because i think i am funny, here is an excerpt of my blog of last night's Shins show:
  11. ok, yeah... sleeping lessons is also damn amazing. i guess i pretty much fucking love this record...
  12. found a pic of the cover! i just cannot stop listening to this right now...
  13. here is your new mantra: stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not. stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not. stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not. stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not. stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not. stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not. stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not. stephen colbert is hot. bob saget is not.
  14. it's absolutely amazing. this is my first taste of cloud cult - how did i miss these guys? i can definitely see an arcade fire comparison in urgency and grand instrumentation. i don't really see the shins in it though, however i have listened to the album just once. this is really really great indie pop, for sure!! i am now off to check out "advice from the happy hippopotamus". EDIT - his voice reminds me of ben bridwell, sans reverb.
  15. australia is amazing. i said it in my review of their show last night and i'll say it again - australia, phantom limb, turn on me & girl sailor will be among the most satisfying indie pop songs of 2007. the only song i truly don't care for is black wave. even sea legs has grown on me a lot.
  16. i haven't forgotten... i despised tipper gore when i was in jr./high school...
  17. yeah, i love that record. i'll probably go tomorrow... show's only $15.
