Another RA connection - the end of Many Worlds reminds me of something Ryan has done. But I can't think of what song.
I was just listening to Love Is Hell, and “The Shadowlands” absolutely has the same vibe. -
The inexplicable typo on the front cover makes you wonder how much effort they're really putting into these Nugs-releases...

Pretty sure she was referring to former SA drummer Jamey Barnard, fwiw. Sadly I never got to go to Lounge Ax (top five regret!), so I wasn't familiar with the wooden animals!
Anyway, here's a short bio of Souled American for the uninitiated. Clearly an influence on Jeff.

I believe the festival already sold out in 2020, and I didn't bother chasing after tickets this year. Instead, I had some family duties to attend (on an Ibizan beach ).
Hopefully the world doesn't fall apart again this fall, so the band can make a swift return to Europe after their US/CA dates. I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped The Netherlands after the Schiphol fiasco though...

Someone on the Steve Hoffman forums posted this last week. Surprised that it hasn’t been mentioned here on VC yet:
Edit: wait, does the image work? I added it via mobile; I'll try again later when I'm home. Anyway, it's a snippet from a local Minnesota radio station that mentions a double album to be released next month.

Aw man, I've been waiting for a proper digital (lossless) release of WHIA for years now, so I'm sad to see that it's vinyl only.
Any chance that these albums will eventually make it to Bandcamp or streaming sites? I mean, they were freely available for years, so there's hardly any exclusiveness. Even an included download voucher would probably make me shell out on the vinyl...

Happy birthday VC + VC'ers
It boggles my mind to think that I joined this site 18,5 years ago... that's nearly half my life!

Looks like they skipped the September release, or did I miss something?

When the band offered a free Vimeo stream of IATTBYH in May of last year, the accompanying website mentioned the following:
QuoteFilm First is currently working on a new 4K transfer and restoration of I Am Trying To Break Your Heart from the original 16mm film elements, which will be released later this year.
We're now almost 1,5 year later, and I haven't seen a reissue yet. It would be absolutely fantastic if they included a Bluray disc with a deluxe reissue of the album. After all, the Mermaid Avenue anthology also included a dvd of Man In The Sand.

Hey Donna, great to see we share a common love for Basia Bulat! Would've seen her last month in Amsterdam and Brussels, if not for the damn pandemic..
Also highly favorable: Jenny Lewis, Christine Fellows, Kathleen Edwards, Dawn Landes, Meg Baird, Phoebe Bridgers, Amy Millan, Molly Rankin (Alvvays) and Lili Trifilio (Beach Bunny).
-
Ah, they're getting into Roadcase territory now - there were at least 6 shows released from that particular month.
Hopefully next month they'll dig a little deeper in the vaults.

You are going to love the Jay Bennett documentary being completed by filmmaker Gorman Bechard, who is one of our members. It's called "Where Are You, Jay Bennett?" and is a beautiful and moving look at his life and music. It features many of those closest to Jay, including his mom and brother, and songwriting & touring partner Edward Burch.
I hope this documentary and the RSD Palace vinyl reissue somehow triggers some sort of process to make Jay's last two albums more widely available. I know Kicking At The Perfumed Air got a limited CD release, but Whatever Happened, I Apologize was only available on RockProper - a website that has been taken offline long ago. Would be great to have those albums available on streaming services or Bandcamp.
-
Probably true - I removed the Amazon link.
However, I find it surprising that streaming services apparently do not differentiate between official releases and bootlegs...

Looks like this is the same recording that has been available for quite some time now, both on CD and streaming services:

Speaking of Wilcovered, I happened to catch this cool cover of Love Is Everywhere (Beware) the other day on a KCRW session by a Dutch artist that I hadn't heard of before, Nana Adjoa. Check it out at the end of her short set, if you're so inclined...
I must admit that I've never heard of her as well (shame on me!), but that is a pretty decent cover!

Just compare Can't Stand It (from 0:38) to Locator (from 1:00).
-
It's a cross between Locator and Can't Stand It. Half nervy post punk, half Smashmouthesque radio hit.
Just noticed that the bass lines are nearly identical. Mind blown.
-
Great initiative, but the quality of that Vimeo stream is horrendous.
The big news, however, can be found halfway the accompanying article:
-
Anyone know if there’ll be a digital 24-bit release? Haven’t been able to find it on Qobuz (only 16-44.1) and HDTracks (no OTJ at all) yet.
-
So the digital release includes the bonus track, and Qobuz has a 24-bit version. Nice surprise.

Yes, I received mine a couple of weeks ago. Ordered from the Tweedy Store though, not Amazon, and delivery was within the US, so no long wait while in transit. It has been a long time since I ordered something from NZ, but recall it took a couple of weeks to get here from there.
It's not really about receiving physical items from NZ though.
Because of timezones, Tidal NZ is the first major streaming site to show new releases. Basically, it's a perfect guide to see what's coming to Tidal EU/US a couple of hours later
-
Did anyone receive the CD set yet? I got an e-mail from Amazon DE that delivery is delayed until August 16th. So I cancelled it and placed a new order in the Wilco EU store.
By the way, it's Friday July 19th in New Zealand and there's still no Warmer on Tidal NZ.
-
A couple of months ago, various sources mentioned July 12 as the official date of release (both physical and digital).

Would be a real letdown if there wasn’t an option for non-US residents to buy the 2CD-set without spending $40 on shipping costs..

Just noticed that both albums (WHIA + KATPA) are now (finally!) available on all major streaming platforms.
