muzzleofpeas
anyone have a tab out there for jeff's solo version of spiders?? I'm pretty sure it's not in E. also, I'd like a tab for the solo version of laminated cat (aka not for seasons). When I play it, I just use E, A and B7. am I missing something? thanks muzzleofpeas
Guest DuckDuckDukes
MattZ added this a while back [D] Spring time comes and the leaves are back on the trees again;[D/B] Spipers are harder to see my friendHiding in the deep endWeeding out the week [D] end [D/B] Candy left over from [A] Halloween[D] A unified theory of [D/B] everythingLove left over from [A] lovers leaving[D] Books they all know they're [D/B] not worth readingThey're not worth [D] reading. I play it in drop d and do a hammer-on on the third fret 6th string when playing the D in the verse. Hope this helps

broseph4
I've been looking for a decent standard tab for this one and haven't really found one, so I've got one of my own. I think it's a little better than that other one: D D/B Ae|-x x xb|-3 3 2g|-2 0 2d|-0 0 2a|-x 2 0e|-x x x x in this case just means don't play that string VERSE: [D]Summer comes and gravity undoes you [D/B]You're happy because of the lovely way the sunshine bends Hiding from your close friends [A] [D] Weeding out the weekends CHORUS [D/B] [A]Candy left over from Halloween[D] [D/B]A unified theory of everything [A]Love left over from lovers leaving[D] [D/B]Books they all know they're not worth reading [A] [D] They're not worth reading. FILL:Instead of playing it down in drop D, I play it up on the D and G strings (very similar to how Dave Matthews plays his cover of Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away) first play the D chord, then g|---------2--|d|-2--2h4----| and repeat during the time where Jeff plays the fills. Anyway, I play this version with a lot of palm muting and stacato picking to try and get some of the percussion into it. I play the chorus a little more open and play the open high e on the [D/B] chord. I think Jeff does on the Pacific DVD. So, it doesn't have as smooth of a feel as the drop D version does, but its different and it's at least correct. hope you enjoy.
tft3323
Both of these can be played by putting a capo at the 2nd fret, but leaving your low E string un-capoed; essentially creating a drop D tuning. From there, it's not too difficult to piece together Jeff's picking. To me, the solo Spiders is phenomenal -- the whole song just takes on a completely different personality than the rocking live version. Incidentally, if anyone has an mp3 of it, I'd love to have a good version. I saw him open with it in New Orleans and Atlanta in January this year. Thanks.
