Groo
So, some of my friends and I decided to jam. Unforunately, we spent most of the time not being able to decide on a song to play (we finally settled on Weezer's "Say It Ain't So," which I'm not crazy about, but suit our purposes). I, for the life of me, couldn't think of a song that everyone would be familiar with, that would be good for 5 people to jam to. We got one drummer, two guitarists, and a bassist. Anyone have any ideas?
JUDE
More info needed. What style of music? How good are the players? Both electric, 1 acoustic and 1 electric, both acoustic, etc.
Groo
What style of music? Easily digestible alternative rock. We jammed a bit on Weezer and the Pixies. How good are the players? The drummer is really good, I'm decent on guitar, as is my friend. Not incredible but "Good enough for rock and roll." The bassist is terrible (not really much of a bassist), but I wouldn't worry too much about that. Both electric, 1 acoustic and 1 electric, both acoustic, etc. I have an electric and acoustic (I'm more comfortable with the acoustic), my friend has 1 electric. Groo
You should try some Fall Out Boy I was thinking more 90's alternative.
JUDE
I, myself, love the sound of an acoustic with an electric guitar added to the mix. I would totally do some Golden Smog (Can't keep from talking, V, etc.) maybe some Jayhawks stuff, Being There era Wilco, Refreshments, etc.
jhc
I was thinking more 90's alternative. OK, but your quesiton is like saying: "What songs can I play with guitar". Find ones you like and play them... I'm not sure why you need suggestions. You're not going to be limited by the instrumentation, that's for sure.
Groo
I'm looking for popular songs that everyone can recognize, and that are pretty thoroughly tabbed out. The songs I like aren't especially well suited to this situation...
