Groo
What's a good acoustic guitar amp? I'm not looking for something ridiculous, but I don't want to get stuck with something crappy either. I went to Guitar Center and played around on a Marshall and a Fender. They sounded really nice, but I didn't want to make a hasty purchase. I realize I'm being vague, but I'm not sure exactly what to be specific about. Does anyone know anything about the Crate acoustic guitar amps? They seem a little cheap... I've played through (but have not owned) both the Marshall AS50R and Fender Acoustasonic and thought they were both fine. Then again, I'm not very picky with acoustic amps. a.miller
My friend has one of the Marhsall ones and it feeds a lot and always seems too bright for me. I had a fender acoustasonic jr for many years and it was okay. I think the Strawberry Blonde amps are the way to go. You could always consider just getting small PA that has like 4 channels or something. Then you room to amplify you and a buddy with microphones. I sold my Fender and just use a PA now. oceanman
I own the marshall, and yes it is very bright, but I play a Martin , so that cures that problem due to their great bass sounds.Depending on what your price range is,I would go with the Blonde,I've even plugged my Tele into one once and it sounded alright and thats uncalled for ,for an acoustic amp. anodyne
what kind of acoustic pickup are you using? have you had a chance to play the fishman loudbox series?
oceanman
Good question anodyne! The guitar that you play has a major role in what sound you will get from an amp or a pa,I've learned this the hard way in not thinking I should bring in my own axe to a store.
Groo
Actually, I am in the market for a new acoustic. I haven't decided what to get yet. I have a Fender something or another acoustic guitar with a Dean Markley Pro Mag Gold pickup. It was my first guitar.
