darkstar
This should work if you have speakers on your computer... Yeah.....do they stream the games? I thought there was some legal thing preventing them from doing so, so MLB can make $ selling packages over the internet. Thought they get blacked out. Anyways thanks for the link! caliber66
I haven't verified it, but it says "Boston-based sports radio station, broadcasting Red Sox games through streaming audio." on the google results page. You'll be able to check in three days.

Duck-Billed Catechist
If that link doesn't end up working, the MLB audio thingy is very reasonable at $15/season. You can listen to whatever radio broadcast you want on there. Even in the home market or whatever. I enjoy listening to Hawk call games. That doesn't mean he's good, necessarily. I've heard him on the TV since I was 11 or so. As for objectivity, he frequently says (first person, yes) "We got away with one right there," when a call goes the White Sox way. I enjoy the way he falls silent after calling the other team's go-ahead homerun in a key game. He's obviously distraught and there's great pathos in that. That said, he's not a great guy and was a terrible GM. He fired Tony Larussa and ran off the better part of the broadcasting team, Tom Paciorek. His first few years broadcasting with current partner, Darrin Jackson, featured frequent fights and was likened to an episode of the Honeymooners, in that there was an uncomfortable undercurrent of domestic violence (Straight to the moon, DJ! Well, not exactly like that).
tongue-tied lightning
this was fun to watch Lo Duca also doubled in a run for New York on a ball that glanced off third baseman Miguel Cabrera's glove. After the inning, Marlins starter Scott Olsen confronted Cabrera in the dugout. "They're OK," Girardi said. "They kissed and made up." "Whatever happened, happened," Olsen said. "We're fine. They'll be no carryover
bobbob1313
I have to say, I'm hoping Jermaine Dye doesn't do very well in the Home Run derby. I don't think he's a good enough hitter to avoid pulling a Bobby Abreu and fucking up his swing. Of course, if he wasn't on my fantasy team, I'd say swing for the fences. this was fun to watchLo Duca also doubled in a run for New York on a ball that glanced off third baseman Miguel Cabrera's glove. Reni
I am of the opinion that the home run derby is nothing but wankery.
Duck-Billed Catechist
Paul Konerko did that a few years ago. Or maybe that was just because back then he would only have half a good season.
bobbob1313
I am of the opinion that the home run derby is nothing but wankery. I actually enjoy it far more than I enjoy the actual all star game. It's big dudes trying to hit a ball as far as possible. Whats not to like? You can't tell me Abreu wasn't impressive last year.
MrRain422
I don't think that ratings are really impacted one way or another by who's broadcasting, and so I don't think the team management has any way of really knowing (or caring) if the fans like the broadcasters. Just last year, the broadcasting union in Canada that covered CFL games went on strike. The cameramen were replaced, but the announcers weren't, so the games were broadcast without play-by-play or color commentary, with the sounds of the game turned up. The ratings were actually slightly higher than usual (possibly some were tuning in for the novelty factor, but obviously it wasn't turning people off). The lesson is, fans tune into the game because they want to watch the game. The shitty broadcasters don't really matter much, and while all those fucking graphics (mainly on Fox) are annoying, if someone wants to watch the game, they're still going to. I wish that the TV networks would take that lesson and get back to broadcasting the actual game, instead of filling the broadcast with all sorts of other stupid shit. Reni
I don't really enjoy either......but, that's just me. Just let the week be over already so I can go back to watching/listening to Sox games......
MrRain422
The homerun derby is total wankery. But it's fun wankery. I'll be watching.
Reni
oh, we'll probably be watching too..... (I say this with a sigh of resignation)
bobbob1313
I think there's a good chance the winner of the whole thing is the guy with the fewest career home runs. That would be Ryan Howard. The only thing that worries me is he's almost a completely opposite field hitter with his home runs, so if he tries to pull it here he's going to mess his swing up big time. Lammycat
I wish that the TV networks would take that lesson and get back to broadcasting the actual game, instead of filling the broadcast with all sorts of other stupid shit.I'll echo this sentiment for what transpires at the ballpark, too. I was reminded of this Friday night when I went to Coors Field to watch them take on the D'Backs: why does seemingly every second between pitches, innings, etc. have to be filled with loud blaring music, over-played organ riffs to get the audience "involved," and reminders from the p.a. guy to cheer? Are we such a mindless culture that we'd be at a loss just watching the game without prompts of when to cheer/root for the home team? It's pretty bad at Coors Field, and I've noticed a good deal of it at Yankee Stadium (granted via t.v. transmission). Fenway has it's share of it, as well. It's this concept that every quiet moment needs to be filled with some form of noise, be it an over-talkative broadcaster or some shitty 50 Cent tune blasting on 11 between innings. Duck-Billed Catechist
When you have a horse in the race the homerun derby is pretty cool.
