Kalle
Goddamn this is catchy!
brittboas
Any other opinions on this? I thought there would be a lot of buzz around this. I think it is great, lyrically and musically. Besides he plays every instrument on the song (album).
solace
it's pretty good, i still think his rhyme schemes are often pretty immature, but he's getting better at least sure hope the album is better than the last
brittboas
it's pretty good, i still think his rhyme schemes are often pretty immature... What does that mean?
Papillon Parade
I love me some Ben Kweller..I'll check it out at home..thanks! You guys heard any of "The Bens"? Ben K., Ben Folds and Ben Lee..tis purdy good.
solace
What does that mean? it means i think his songwriting & lyrics could stand to mature a bit, and that i often am annoyed by the "hop on pop" type of songwriting lyrics, but maybe that's just me... examples that really annoy me: She goes above and beyond her call of duty. She is a slut but X thinks it's sexy.Sex reminds her of eating spaghetti.I am wasted but I'm ready. We are jus ta sexual making me an alcoholic relation.Words hit much harder than bullets from a gun,a shovel to the skull, a stab in the spine.Be my valentine, you don't have to say much. This machine is so mature, it's so much your type. I want to kill this man but he turned around and ran.I'll kill him with karate that I learned in Japan. He wouldn't see my face. I wouldn't leave a trace.I wouldn't use a bullet cause a bullet's a disgrace. There's this drawer that I know in a house up the roadThat's full of things that are easily sold. When they go out of town I could go and snoop aroundAnd make myself rich off the things that I found. I was sitting on the bleacher staring at the speaker,Reading his lips but I could not understand. So I opened up my ears and clearly I could hearThis detailed story all about a grain of sand. There's this kid you gotta meet. He lives across the street. He's got spirit and heart. We're ten years apart. He is up for anything. He can hang with anyone. He still likes the things we used to think were fun. I'm in love with someone who's as pretty as a flower. Her life give me power so I'm buyin' her a ring. She makes hats with her hands. She is such an artist.I'm her biggest fan and I'm teaching her to sing as i stated before, Lightning Bolt by Radish is still the best thing Ben has ever been involved with imo, and he was what, like 15 then? tapmyglass
I really like ben kweller and am excited for the new album.the only lyric that ever bothered me was when he said "make you cry mega ultra sad" that sounds childish
WilcoFan
Ben Kweller is really good and a good live act. I will be seeing him at Lollapalooza.
brianjeremy
Sha Sha was really, really good. It kinda filled that void left by weezer. On My Way blew though and barely had a decent moment to redeem it. I finally got the Radish disc a few months back and wasn't impressed with Lighting Bolt at all. Everyone kept telling me that it was so awesome, but, eh. She goes above and beyond her call of duty. She is a slut but X thinks it's sexy.Sex reminds her of eating spaghetti.I am wasted but I'm ready. Although this song doesn't look so good on paper (or on your computer screen), it rocks. I agree that his songwriting is pretty immature, but sometimes that sorta thing fits. In Wasted & Ready's case, I think it's lyrics are well-suited for the type of song it is.

Oh I see... Come on, I know this isn't gonna go over well, because Tweedy is a genius and stuff, but Geezus. Stream of consciousness, none-sense is waaaay better! Sure. When the devil cameHe was not redHe was chrome and he saidCome with meYou must goSo I wentWhere everything was cleanSo precise and towering 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9Once in Germany someone said neinI'm a wheelI willTurn on you
Elixir Sue
I'll concede that the lyrics to I'm a Wheel are stupid, but don't fuck with Hell is Chrome.
mjpuczko
i'd take stream of conscious over immature lyrics anyday. Edited August 2, 2006 by mjpuczko
