Sandoz
I think they played today??
Wickster
Yeah, I actually caught a couple songs.....They were really good for a bunch of kids playing in front of a pretty good sized crowd. I saw them play She Don't Use Jelly by the Flaming Lips and Rockin' In The Free World by Neil Young......like I said they did an awesome job.....it was really entertaining and you can tell that they all have a lot of musical talent. I think it was a good time had by all.
OOO
yeah i saw them they were very fun, they also played Blitzkrieg Bop by the Ramones, Dear Prudence by the Beatles, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd and some original tunes. Jeff, Sue, and Sam were all out in the audience. (Jeff walked over my legs to get to his chair!!). Also, Glenn Kotche was backstage watching. The only negative thing i would say about it was Gregg Kot, the music critic guy, was to the left of the stage and dancing very oddly and drawing attention (at least mine) to himself away from the band, so that was weird. But the kids were great, and they got a decent crowd too. :-)

You are 100% correct, he just looked like someone from I Am trying to break your heart and I assumed it was Greg Kot, but yeah, it was bob.

And he announced sonic youth coming on. It was nice to see Thax Douglas read for the flaming lips though, I havent seen him in a while.

frazman
Yes, well LLP has been troymonde ooh so far. Lips and MMJ been real highlights. Want to make a big shout out to those VC'ers that I have met so far - you have been outstanding company (which I expected - R and G) to say the least and you have demonstrated incredible hospitality - exactly what I expected from Chicago, having been here before. You have made my weekend and rescued it from the depths of despair, having initially found myself in a shitty situation. Also a big shout out to the rest of you, your apathy has been an inspiration to me to help people from out of town, wherever I may be. All turn 90 degrees and pat each other on the back. Fuckers. God bless you all, and may you all discover the Smiths and Bona Drag, no matter what stage of your 20's you are struggling with. I did. It was a good move. Bon Voyage, JF

blasting_fonda
Yeah I saw the whole thing.I'm ashamed to say that I went as to catch a glimpse of Jeff (which I did)PLUS I met Glenn before the show, and took a picture with him.The Blisters were pretty good. Spencer rocked on drums.
blasting_fonda
Oh I also met Beatle Bob after the Chili Peppers. I felt bad, he was a nice guy (although quite smelly). I had been making fun of his ridiculous dancing and annoying presence onstage all week. I thought it funny how Carl Newman of the New Pornos treated him. "Oh...good. Bob's having fun. Cmon out Bob." Bob then came out and danced during "It's only divine right" and made a fool of himself. Thank god he didn't come on during Wilco, I would've threw stuff at him. He would've made it less of a great show. But I did see him backstage near Sue and the kids. Dancing, of course.

jhc
That's fucking ridiculous. What part of that is fucking ridiculous? While I probabley wouldn't throw stuff at him, I woldn't want some asshat becoming a distraction on stage when I'm trying to focus on the band.
caliber66
If the band doesn't have a problem with him being on stage, and you're thinking about throwing something at a guy who's enjoying the music in his own way, then that's fucking ridiculous. Letting someone else's dancing bother you so freakin much that you contemplate doing him harm is fucking ridiculous. To let someone else's actions - outside of screaming in your ear or stepping on your kids - get in the way of your enjoyment of a rock and roll concert is fucking ridiculous. As far as whether or not you want him up on the stage, that decision is up to the band. If they say he gets to be up there and you are so upset about it that it ruins your whole concert experience, that's fucking ridiculous.
