Is it just me, or does this week seem to be moving unusually slow?

It's only moving that slowly because the local stations have been giving game-day weather forecasts since last Saturday evening. Often at the expense of more relevant, shorter-term forecasts.

What's the spread right now, six and a half?

You almost have to take Michigan plus that many points, don't you? Maybe not, though.

I've been seeing quite a few Michigan and Ohio State hats, flags, shirts and the like down here this week. Can not even imagine what it's like up there.

This week doesn't seem to be dragging any moreso than any other big-game week. In a way, I almost can't believe Saturday is almost here already.(since I've been mentally counting down to this week for a couple months now)

I think its amazing just sitting back and watching the insane amount of attention this game is getting. OSU/Michigan is always big, but even the biggest rivalries are still fairly regional things. Everyone seems to be equally as jacked up for this game as I am (some maybe moreso, which is odd). For those people who are tuning in because of the national-title implications, I don't know if this game can possibly live up to the hype that is being generated for it. (I hope they enjoy 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Welcome to the Big Ten. :wave) But those of us who are fans/students/alumni of these schools should just enjoy this moment a bit longer cuz its not often you get the whole dang nation to join in on your yearly obsession. :lol

It should also be a great recruiting moment for both schools cuz I'd imagine there are a whole bunch of high school kids out there who are going to be soaking in the atmosphere surrounding this game and thinking "Wow, I want to be a part of that." Good times. :cheers

Bo has been taken back to the hospital. Hopefully he will be all right. Good thing he didn't plan on going to Columbus for The Game.

Clearly he needs to stop appearing on TV shows. Every time he does, he ends up in the hospital.

Wow, as a life long Michigan fan to see this news is shocking. This man IS Michigan football.

Schembechler collapses, dies at 77

DETROIT -- Former Michigan football coach Bo Schembechler has died, television station WXYZ is reporting.

Schembechler

He was 77.

Schembechler collapsed Friday during the taping of a television show and was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

He became ill at WXYZ-TV in Southfield the day before the Ohio State-Michigan showdown, the station said. Schembechler also was hospitalized Oct. 20 after falling ill at the same studio.

Earlier Friday, Southfield police spokesman John Harris could not provide specific medical information, but said: "I don't think it was good."

Police were sent to the station about 9:25 a.m. with the city's fire department, and they escorted an ambulance to Providence Hospital, Harris said.

Messages were left with the university, Schembechler's office and the hospital.

Schembechler met with the media this week to discuss Saturday's game between the No. 1 Buckeyes and No. 2 Wolverines. He also talked about the device that was implanted to regulate his heartbeat after he was hospitalized last month. He said the device covered about half his chest, and doctors still were adjusting it.

Schembechler said he did not plan to attend the game in Columbus, Ohio, and he doesn't go to road games anymore.

Schembechler had a heart attack on the eve of his first Rose Bowl in 1970 and another one in 1987. He has had two quadruple heart bypass operations.

The seven-time Big Ten coach of the year had a 194-48-5 record at Michigan from 1969-89. His record in 26 years of coaching was 234-64-8.

:ohwell Bo was one of those guys that I just figured would live forever.

This is a huge loss to Ann Arbor and the university. And yes, though you'll hear this way too many times over the next thirty hours or so, it's really too bad he couldn't be around to see tomorrow's game.

Wow. :o It may sound strange coming from a Buckeye fan, but a am immensely sad to see Bo go. He was the guy that all of Buckeyeland loved to hate, but behind the hoopla of the rivalry, deep down he was a man that was deeply respected even among his adversaries.(which I hope serves as a good metaphor for the OSU/UM rivalry, at its best) My deepest respects to Bo, and condolences to Michigan fans.

Note: the Dead Schembechlers (the band) have been respectfully removed from my avatar. :unsure

When I worked at Hiller's, I'd always see Bo there buying some green onions. And when I worked at Spot's, whenever I delivered to Schembecheler hall, there he'd be, sitting in his office smoking a cigar (and doing nothing in particular -- I'm not sure exactly why he had an office). But yeah, he was still a big part of Ann Arbor right up until the end. Actually maybe a bit overrated as a coach, but he was the face of the program, and he will be missed. Maybe this will inspire the team a little bit. Too bad he couldn't have lasted just a little bit longer. Going on the eve of the Ohio State game is one thing, but especially this year, since this is the Ohio State game. The one to make all of the previous ones obselete. Bo would have been going crazy.

This may be an inappropriate thought at a moment like this, but I hope Brent Musburger isn't the ABC play-by-play man for tomorrow's game. He makes me want to vomit on a good day, but give him something like the death of Bo Schembechler to stir into every single thing that happens tomorrow, and he becomes impossible to listen to.

I think I will be watching the game with the TV muted and the local radio broadcast on.

It occurs to me (only now, for the first time) that I think I saw Bo's last regular season game. A friend of mine who went to U-M got me a ticket to the Ohio State game in the fall of '89. We were college seniors that year. That was my first trip to the Big House.

Michigan won and went to the Rose Bowl.

I think the way in which the media is already overstating how this will inspire the Michigan team is sort of crazy. I mean, none of those guys played for him, and they're all probably too young to even remember him coaching. He was just an old dude who hung around practice sometimes to them. I'm sure they liked him and respect his place in the history of the program, but I really don't think it's going to make a difference, as I should hope the team was already feeling pretty inspired to play hard even before Bo died.

Bo would probably agree with you. I recently heard him state that some of the players on this team were only 3 years old when he retired, and that the only connection that he had with the team was that they practiced in a building named after him. However, I would not underestimate the motivational impact Bo's death will have on the team. Even after all of these years, Bo is the face of Michigan Football (just like Woody is the face of tOSU football). Sure the media will overhype the "inspirational" angle for the next 26+ hours. But I will be suprised and shocked if the Boys in Blue don't come out with a little extra something in the tank.

They'll be strangling each other up in heaven.

No, Woody is in hell. Bo could be too, but I think not.

Hell is a place where there is nothing to do but watch Tim Biakabatuka run all over the place, over and over again. Actually, Bo might enjoy joining Woody there.

I have no idea how the motivational-factor will shake out, but I think, if anything, playing the game for him puts the game into even more of a historical context. Most OSU and UM fans have been saying all week that the BCS is a secondary issue in this game, and now it is even more true. None of these kids ever played for Bo, but he has an unquestionable spot in Wolverine mythology. The motivation doesn't come from playing for him, exactly, but from realizing their place in their team's history.

Or, at least, that's what I hope doesn't happen. :lol

Once again, I have to agree with my Buckeye friend. What the hell is going on here? :D
