MrRain422
If history tells us anything, it's that asking politely for businesses to change their practices without offering them any sort of incentive to do so works every time.

"incentive".....like maybe a gun pointed at the head?

cryptique
On a side note, doing a Yahoo image search for Red Foreman did not yield the kinds of results I was expecting.
quarter23cd
He's not going to legislate/sign anything. He's just going to mention it from time to time.Yep. This seems along similar lines of his token pro-environment soundbite he typically slips into his state of the union addresses. Gives people a warm fuzzy feeling for about five seconds before they realize that all evidence points to such statements being overwhelmingly full of it.

Duck-Billed Catechist
I actually didn't intend for this to be a Bush-bashing thread. There are certain parts of the political spectrum in this country that don't believe that the income gap matters. It's nice to get some lip service, at least, from the President. I like Barney Frank's idea of shareholders approving executive compensation packages.

MrRain422
Graham makes a good point though. Lip service is still better than no lip service. It at least has the potential of getting people talking about the issue, which increases the possibility of future change.
