jenbobblehead
corn syrup is evil, but suspect that with the huge move to make ethanol, we're going to have a corn shortage and maybe we'll get back to putting regular cane sugar into stuff. either that or we're going to feed our livestock deadstock rather than feed... and we all know how that turned out... M. (hristine
Bovines are not evolved to eat corn anyway. Because of the various health issues related to feeding corn to an animal not physiologically equipped to eat it, antibiotics are used to decrease bloat, acidosis, and liver problems. Antibiotics. Hormones. We ingest too much of these as well.

bjorn_skurj
"The first five ingredients of "fat free half and half" (and I agree with you - in literature class this would be called an oxymoron) are nonfat milk, milk, corn syrup solids, artificial color, and sugar." Soon, everything will be made from corn syrup. It's frightening. And it's also making Americans obese.I always thought FFHNH was liquid chalk, myself.
viatroy
wild salmon thanks for that! I eat salmon a couple times a week, and i know I shouldn't eat the farm-raised for a variety of reasons, but I just don't l ike the wild as much. My market is advertising 'ocean-raised farm salmon' this week .... wondering what that's about. Maybe like free-range chickens ... they catch and cage and grow them in the actual ocean? I bought local farm half-and-half this weekend, which is $$$ and tasty and turns the coffee the right color quicker than the store-bought processed variety. I scoff at fat-free half and half. "everything made of corn syrup" makes me think of the X Files movie. Fight the future!
