So Long
So, for writing skills this semster, our mid-term was to recreate the first 16 (or so) bars of a song with a strong bass and drum part. Not neccesarily flashy, but strong. Then we had to record the background instruments just to compliment the drums and bass. I chose Jesus, Etc. I was wondering what you guys thought. I had to change the arrangement a bit to fit in with the melody in the given 16 bars. But I recorded it all using Garage Band and my Oxygen 8 midi keyboard http://www.sendspace.com/file/s90fas
tongue-tied
that'd be perfect backing music to a Wilco fansite with animated gifs of the bandmembers dancing, and maybe some hamsters. that sounds like it was a fun project though.
So Long
I can totally see hamsters dancing to that!
cash
You guys use garage band and not Sebelius or some more mainstream music software? I'm a junior in high school but i managed to persuade my music supervisor into letting me take A.P Theory this year and I'll have an independent study next year. We use Sebelius if we're going to be writing something out. I've never used garage band, but it seems a little... unprofessional for lack of a better word. The intro was neat though, i liked it. So Long
Garageband is very unprofessional. We use Finale and Reason for writing stuff out. But for this project, all we needed was Garageband.
Kalle
Yeah I completely agree that Garageband is unprofessional and at my high school we use Finale. I'm going to music school too "Walken"!
H to the ickle
Finale gives me a headache.
deepseacatfish
I use Sibelius and/or Protools. But for this, Garageband would be much easier logistically.
SarahC
i need to get Finale or Sibelius. that's really neat though. for a second while clicking the thread i thought your homework might have been to do roman numeral analysis on a song... that would be cool for a wilco song, though it scares me that it would all boil down to I-IV-V-I like most "pop" music.... So Long
I think Poor Places is a good example of how Wilco can change a simple progression to something awesome, with the I-V-VI-IV-II..when I first heard that I almost died
