kungfuonion
just recieved this in my inbox... and don't miss... BERNARD FANNING explains the new POWDERFINGER single to Myf, Jay & the Doctor on Monday morning. Plus theatre actor/writer and Logie nominee BRENDAN COWELL is in too. Robbie is back and gets SLAYER and WILCO in the Top Shelf studio this week. LOU RHODES from LAMB plays 'Like A Version' on Wednesday. And the HOWLING BELLS are Live At The Wireless on Monday night, recorded by triple j at our special Corner Hotel gig in Melbourne in February. that's all i know. i guess it'll most likely just be an interview, and the performance stuff is usually on the morning program. froggie
cool... and thanks for the Howling bells reminder for tonight. gotta record that one
whiskeygirl
nice to see jjj supporting wilco . . . even if they only do it when they're in the country, which as we all know is very very rarely . . . sigh
mark
Tweedy is appearing on JJJ in an hours time after 4pm - 16th April http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/listen/default.htm
froggie
taping it now... will post mp3 when i get a chance. they're playing What light (sounds much better than the mp3 stream). he just admitted its yet another song left over from the Being There days. so far the conversation has been the pro's of downloading music edited: uh-oh, panic attacks talk now! and that was it.. pretty short one
asleepykisser
Robbie Buck has mentioned a couple of times that coming up he'll be speaking to Jeff from Wilco, the band who the term "Alt-Country" was coined to describe. This could be interesting
Aeglos
Robbie Buck is ok, but he's a bit glib and paint-by-numbers was pretty short, but i suspect Jeff would like to be doing just about anything else than another interview, so fair play
froggie
mp3 will be up in 40 mins or so... quite predictable interview. the questions/answers seem to be more suited to newer fans. oh and dick cheney was in the caravan. jeff apologised for dick's recent visit to Oz
HighFives
cool be looking forward to that.
kungfuonion
heheh... i missed it myself. even though it sounds like plain, it'll still boost my excitement levels...
froggie
here it is... there's a bit of background FM hiss due to all the crap in the room thanks to mark for warning us that the interview was coming - would have missed it otherwise! http://www.sendspace.com/file/vzqm37
Sky Blue
Why oh why do they always have to tag Wilco "Alt-country". What is "Alt-country" anyway? It is good that JJJ are supporting Wilco while they are here but what about when they are not here? It's a shame that radio stations in Aus still have selective play lists. We have some good bands here but its great when we get the opportunity to see what the rest of the world gets to see more often.

Alt-country (whatever that is) is the name of a sub genre that has given planet earth some of the best music ever made. Whiskeytown, Uncle Tupolo, early Wilco, early Ryan Adams, Jayhawks, Lucinda Williams, Richmond Fontaine, Drive By Truckers.....to name a few. UT is considered by many as the band that gave recognition to the name alt-country!!!
