imsjry
1: The venue - The all seated format definitely didn't work tonight I will never understand people bitching about seated venues. In the 60's and early 70's most rock shows were seated. Do you think Dylan or Zep at Royal Albert Hall would have been better shows if the audiences were standing. I just don't see what difference sitting or standing makes to anyone, especially for the kind of music Wilco plays.

[and that's not facetious, no one anymore]
Kalle
From listening to the recording I must say War On War and Remember The Mountain Bed sounded great.

How did they cope with working a seated crowd? And if it was the norm in those days, then bands would be more accustomed to dealing with it. Say what you will, but there was a palpable change in atmosphere when a lot of the crowd left their seats and came up to the stage. Several people have commented on it, but you claim we're wrong, yet you weren't even there! I know people who live in Melbourne, who didn't go to the shows here because of the choice of venue, and instead flew up to Sydney for the show. I was at all 3 of those shows and I can tell you they made a wise choice.
Edie
There is definitely more intense energy when standing (as it allows for dancing and just more movement), but I was just at the 4/6 Tweedy solo show where everyone was seated, and it was one of the most enjoyable shows of his I have seen. candyflosser
Well perth was all standing, and Jeff said the corwd wass the loudest and smallest of the tour! Much more energy!
straightaways
Well...I have to agree with a few of the comments already made... The show was good, the atmosphere was slightly strange, and this reincarnation of wilco is nothing compared to the band they toured with back in 2003. That melbourne show an the palace was amazing! Nels cline is a frustrating fellow... at times he can be extremely tasteful, playing exactly what the song needs....at other times he flat out ruins songs. I must have cringed about 5 or 6 times at that gig, it was verging on embarrassing. I just dont understand why Jeff lets it happen. Coupled with the fact that the new songs are basically like listening to the eagles... with each song having the same structure....verse, chorus, ripping wanky guitar solo. bah. I have to say....I really was slightly dissapointed. I was just hoping for another 2003 palace show. I didn't get it/ Wilco are such a great band, but I dont really like the direction they're going. Jeff needs to get rid of virtuoso musicians, and get guys with limited ability who can play music from the heart.
