lovenmercy
Blue and Green and I (lovenmercy) have spent three years getting to know each other and falling in love to Jeff's songs. It would be a dream come true to have Jeff play Someday, Some Morning, Sometime at our wedding. So, just for fun, I want to see what other VC'ers think it would take to make this pipe dream come true?
intodeep
Are you rich? Maybe if you donated a ton of money to a charity he believes in he would do it.

Duck-Billed Catechist
So, just for fun, I want to see what other VC'ers think it would take to make this pipe dream come true?$ $ $ and...congrats!
lovenmercy
Are you rich? Maybe if you donated a ton of money to a charity he believes in he would do it.As much as I love to donate to charity, we are decidedly NOT rich, nor are we "well off" or even "comfortable" for that matter. I had thought about that option in my fantasy. Thanks for humoring me.

lovenmercy
Perhaps I could scrape up a little dough for a charity. PLUS, we could do all of our decorations in macrame!
Duck-Billed Catechist
Having someone that good at a wedding is a bad idea. You'll barely get to talk to all your favorite people as it is. You don't need a musician that you actually want to pay attention to. It'd be a distraction.

unposed_question
Where are you getting married? It might help if they aren't touring and you're getting married close to Chicago. I agree with the earlier commenter: maybe you could have him do 3 songs, because otherwise his performancewould get more attention than the wedding.
lovenmercy
Oh, dear.
lovenmercy
We're going to have an outdoor wedding in one of the Indiana state parks...not sure which one yet. That will be decided this weekend. And yes, I agree that the certainty of his outstanding performance would overshadow our vows. It was just a fun idea.
Paula Deen
first off, congrats may i ask, did you two meet on the boards? are marriages between VCers common, or is this the first? I used to post in a Gulf Coast Music Scene board (local bands, venues for the area) and there were like three or four marriages that spawned from that board. maybe jeff tweedy will read this and show up... and if he does, you could sell tickets and solve this problem AND the money problem. otherwise, you might have to hogtie him as previously suggested. alison the wilca
may i ask, did you two meet on the boards? are marriages between VCers common, or is this the first? It is somewhat common. My husband and I met here. I think we were maybe the 2nd VC couple to get married 3 years ago? There have been others since.

The worst thing that can happen is no reply. Maybe he'll answer back!If you did a private beach in Michigan, you could have him do Spiders. ;-)

deepseacatfish
You could also always have a VCer or some other musician step in and play some Wilco/Tweedy tunes for you at your wedding/reception. Just saying. It's a little more feasible, and there are good musicians on this board.
Paula Deen
or you could just get a boombox with a cd. cheap AND easy. and you won't have to worry with people looking at tweedy and not you. or you could get a poster of tweedy and put the boombox behind it and sit everyone really far away. have him behind a tree jonathan richman like, with just a guitar. Good Old Neon
Or you could just look up Jeff or Jeffery or even Geoffrey Tweedy in your local phone book

I am getting married the same week June 1, 2008 and I am just trying to convince the wife to be to have I'm The Man Who Loves you as one of our songs to be interpreted by the band we hired! Maybe Jeff can do a one week long wedding tour PS I took her to her first Wilco concert this last friday at Red Bank..not her type of music but she still had fun!
