Good Old Neon
Why do you assume lovenmercy is the groom? Stop keeping the woman down. Ahem, well, on further review, I stand corrected - though the question remains. Are you hot?
remphish1
Congrats - have you hired a wedding planner? We pretty much booked everything already! We move quick!

Duck-Billed Catechist
Yeah, I think they met at a Tweedy/Wilco show IIRC.

Eli Cash
or you could just get a boombox with a cd. cheap AND easy. and you won't have to worry with people looking at tweedy and not you. or you could get a poster of tweedy and put the boombox behind it and sit everyone really far away. have him behind a tree jonathan richman like, with just a guitar. Or you could just have a DJ play the Wilco tune. I mentioned this in another thread the other day, but I recently got married and my wife and I were introduced at the reception to "I'm Always in Love." It's obviously not as cool as having Jeff at your wedding, but it was pretty great.
maxthesilent
I was fortunate enough to propose to my gal at a living room show. Jeff was gracious enough to let me steal his thunder for a few minutes, then he played "ITMWLY" and another non-Wilco standard that I just can't remember the name of. Kidsmoke was there, maybe she'd remember. We invited him to the wedding, which was not too far outside of Chicago when the band was home last year, but we got no reply. I added "Someday, Some Morning, Sometime" to our wedding CD.
Sir Stewart
Every time I see a Wilco acronym that's more than three letters I assume it's I Am Trying To Break Your Heart.

The same for me....I always have to do a double, triple, sometimes quadruple check to figure out what it is. I'm new to this Wilco acronym shit!
moonlite
Blue and Green and I (lovenmercy) have spent three years getting to know each other and falling in love to Jeff's songs. It would be a dream come true to have Jeff play Someday, Some Morning, Sometime at our wedding. So, just for fun, I want to see what other VC'ers think it would take to make this pipe dream come true? Now, lovenmercy, why didn't you tell me this sooner? I could have asked him after the show in Indy. Tee-hee! By the way, Mr. Tweedy's assigned seat better be next to mine! (What?! A girl can dream, right?)
lovenmercy
Wow! Since being at work and spending a day in the hospital waiting for my nephew to be born, I have missed alot. So, I'll try to respond to everything. Playing the song from a cd instead of having Jeff there is, of course, an option. But I really like the solo acoustic version of that song for a wedding, and I don't have a really clean copy without some crowd noise. I hadn't thought about having someone else play it. Somehow it wouldn't be the same without Jeff's voice. That is part of what makes the song so wonderful. In response to the ... guy, we have plenty of help as far as wedding planning goes, but thanks for the offer. My fiance already has a best man picked out, sorry. And no, I'm not hot...just average. No, we didn't meet on VC. We met at work (where 99.9% of our co-workers listen to that twangy-pop-country-crap.) Once we realized that we had similar creative and musical interests, it was a fast fall from there. I had only been familiar with Wilco's Summerteeth album, and he had been a fan since the Being There days. He made be a romantic Tweedy mix, and the rest is history. Jeff has been the soundtrack of our lives ever since. This is us...

lovenmercy
Hey congrats! I am getting married the same week June 1, 2008 and I am just trying to convince the wife to be to have I'm The Man Who Loves you as one of our songs to be interpreted by the band we hired! Maybe Jeff can do a one week long wedding tour PS I took her to her first Wilco concert this last friday at Red Bank..not her type of music but she still had fun!Oops! I missed this one. Congratulations to you too! That'll be a pretty special week. If you convince your fiance about the song, that will be pretty kick-ass. Where are you two going on your honeymoon? We haven't decided yet, and we're open to suggestions.

I didn't mean to steal any of your thunder since you started the thread. We are trying to be very ambitous for our Honeymoon. I have been saving up time for awhile (Can bank vacation at my company..one of the few perks) and hoping to do Australia/New Zealand for 3 weeks! If we can't wing it job wise we will do Italy/Greece 2 weeks! I figure better do it now before we REALLY have to settledown in life! Any destinations in the running right now for your honeymoon? No thunder stolen at all! I love to hear about people getting married. We can bank our vacation too. So, we are going to take two+ weeks also. We really don't want to have a really long flight, so we were thinking about one of the quieter Caribbean islands. If we decide that a long flight doesn't bother us, then we might consider Kauai. Since I've never been to either place, I was hoping somebody would have some suggestions/insights.

If we decide that a long flight doesn't bother us, then we might consider Kauai. Since I've never been to either place, I was hoping somebody would have some suggestions/insights. I can't speak of Hawaii, never been. However, I've been to the Caribbean dozens of times to dozens of islands. I've never vacationed there, though. A close, quiet island is Harbour Island, Bahamas. Off the island of Eleuthera. It's been more than 7 years since I've been, so it may have grown up since. At the time, it was wonderfully quiet and simple. There's really nothing to do at all. Beach, swim, snorke, stroll, nap, etc. They do have horses on the island if that were of interest. It's more like an actual village than going to someplace like Nassau or whatever. The beaches are great and the water is fantastic. If you want to go to an island that has a bunch to do and see, but still want to 'hide' and just stay put if you want, an excellent place to get married is Here. Near Negril, Jamaica. I spent 6 days there at a wedding and only really left the hotel twice. A great little hideaway right in the middle of a place with a lot to do. We did a day trip to some falls and such. Took a boat, etc. Near there are the hideous and overbearing Sandals type places. A nude party boat might come by screaming twice a day or so. Even so, I really liked this place. I have a million photos of a wedding there if you're interested. I've only shot three weddings, Jamaica, Italy, and India. Again, I've been down in the Caribbean literally over 30 times. Been to most of the major destinations there. In my view, the choice comes down to what you want to do while there. Define that and let me know if you want input. charles

Thanks for the input. I think what we're looking for is somewhere quiet, on the beach, romantic rooms, and as natural surroundings as possible. We would also like a place that offered massages for two and hiking trails. Any ideas? Thanks.
So Long
I'd be more than willing to play at your wedding doing nothing but Wilco songs haha.

Oahu is beatiful and the flight is not as bad as you may think. Coming from NYC if you connect in LA it would be 2- 5 hour flights. I had a wonderful time in Hawaii and it really was worth the flight time. I heard Kauai was even nicer than Oahu which is hard to imagine because the scenery was just spectacular. They were many deserted beaches in Hawaii that seemed like they came out of a dream. The people were also frienedly, the food was good and people drove on the same side of the street! I think most of Carribean they drive on the left??? Anyway I am sure either place will be wonderful but I can speak highly of my time in Hawaii!
Three dollars and 63 cents
One of my friends and her husband recently went on their honeymoon to Costa Rica. She said it was extremely affordable and beautiful. They'd originally thought about Hawaii, but then they realized what they would've spent for a few days in Hawaii could last them over a week in Costa Rica. It sounds like they had a great trip. Congrats!
lovenmercy
Okay, here's an update... My brother kindly offered us his vacation time-share thingy for next year free of charge. And going by the destinations available, we have it narrowed down to Maui, Barbados, or Manzanillo in Mexico. Thoughts on these? We finally found a wedding location...www.winchesterplace.com On the subject of the original idea behind this thread...Since I know it is unlikely at best that Jeff would come to/play at our wedding, I mentioned to Blue and Green that the best alternative would be for him to learn the song and play it himself. Sadly, he's not one to perform in public. So, we may just have to go with a hired musician or a recording.
remphish1
I would go for Maui! Been to Barbados and it is nice but Hawaii in general is amazing! All three sound like nice choices though so I am sure either way you will be happy!
