WilcoOfTheDay
OMG! This is the best news I've heard since they were coming to Davenport! I don't know how long this has been up because I just moved and don't have Internet, but WILCO IN IOWA CITY!!!!!!!!!!! SCREAM!!
alison the wilca
it took me a while to find venue info: http://imu.uiowa.edu/guest_services/event_...room_number=
Preferred B
Ah, Glenn and Jeff played there a couple of years ago. (Last year?) They played in the ballroom, though - I think this is in a different space.

The main lounge is 1600 according to the Universities website. This is pretty exciting, I'll definitely be there.

Wow, that's about a small as youre gonna get these days with Wilco. Should be a GREAT show, I'm surprised tickets are not limited to students.
explodo
This might be the first Wilco show in Iowa in the last seven years or so that I probably won't go to. Eeeeek.
lulu
I've got that Jeff show from a couple of years back, and damnit if the crowd would not stfu. Some of the worst I've ever heard.
Preferred B
Seriously? That's not how I remember it at all. Maybe there was one guy talking next to the taper.
Wilco LP #7
Yeah I was there. It was actually a really good crowd. Jeff said so himself. The venue is within the student union so it's no alcohol, meaning a less goofy crowd. And oh yeah, this is the best fucking news ever. YES!

Can one assume there will be tix for the general public? I have a friend out that way, but unfortunately said person is not a student there.
deepseacatfish
The Jeff/Glenn solo show was not student only. I bought tickets for a Ryan Adams show there as well and it was just standard ticketbastard, didn't need to be a student or anything I'm assuming the Wilco show will be the same. Now who wants to meet up for drinks/food before the show?
Smokestack Joe
i think i will be coming to this show. havent seen wilco in IA yet so im there

Wilco LP #7
the thing that excites me most is that this will be a General Admission show. It's about time.
solace
this is where Wilco ended their '02 tour, which was a fantastic show
auria
Is Iowa very far from Chicago? I'm not American and I'll be working in Chicago in October, and I'd like to see Wilco, but they are playing there in September, so I was wondering which is the nearest place for me to go. Wilco LP #7
about 3.5 hours west to Iowa City
Preferred B
Just in case anybody missed this, the Iowa City presale began half an hour ago. I don't think there was much forewarning.
