Willin
For anyone who has not heard of Congressman Ron Paul, M.D., check hout http://www.ronpaul2008.com Just curious if any Wilco Fans here at Via Chicago have any support for or against him. If you haven't seen him in the debates - check youtube/google video.
cryptique
I appreciate his votes against the USA PATRIOT Act, the Iraq War Resolution, and the Military Commissions Act of 2006, but I disagree with him on far too many of his other positions to ever consider voting for him. He may be a rabble-rouser among Republicans, but he's still a Republican. Even if there's no other good reason to do so, I'll be voting for the Democrat in 2008 because I'm terrified by the current makeup of the U.S. Supreme Court. There are other reasons, but if I had to reduce the next presidential election to a single issue, that would be it. Also: your post, being your first one here and coming only fifteen minutes after you registered, looks suspiciously like spam. If you're going to advocate for a presidential candidate, don't do it that way -- you're going to turn a lot of people (like me) off.
ikol
I like his stance on most issues, but he has pretty much zero chance of winning the nomination. Also, I am highly suspicious that Willin won't be posting anything else (unless there are some male enhancer pills to sell or some obscure band to pimp).
Sir Stewart
I don't know anything about Ron Paul, other than every time I see his name I immediately think of:
yermom
The greatest impression I have of Ron Paul is that his supporters who live in my town should come up with a nicer way of spreading their message. In my reasonably small town (pop. about 15,000), there are signs like this everywhere...These signs are hand scribbled in magic marker and taped to poles and trees all over the place. Others say, "Vote Ron Paul! No taxes!"
MrRain422
I respect the guy. He seems to really have principles that don't waiver for political expediency. But I disagree with him on too many vital issues. He's a respectable man with real scruples, but I could never, ever vote for him.

quarter23cd
I'm all for grass-roots organization, but the proliferation of RP related stuff on sites like digg (and now spreading to smaller forums, a la VC) has begun to reach the level of obnoxiousness. Then again, I probably only feel that way b/c, although I find his stance refreshingly different from the usual crop of candidates, I don't agree with him on enough issues to actually consider voting for him. yermom
I think that's kind of endearing. If there were just a few, it would be for me too but they are all over the place. I'm also suspicious that the support is coming from some of the more unlikeable of my fellow townspeople...those who sport Confederate flags in their trucks' back windows and insist that "The South will rise again!" John Smith
Ron Paul is too intelligent and principled to become president. He is a traditional republican/libertarian who actually believes in and votes the small/less intrusive government way. This is very contrary to how the republican party operates today. I think the fact that he is less partisan than any republican out there, while appealing to me it will kill his chances in the long run. Look what happens to politicians who say that they need to be more inclusive (I'm thinking Arnold) they get hammered for not toeing the party line. So there is no way the Looney right 25%'ers will ever vote for him. Likewise the left's base will not vote for him either, and there is no candidate who will capture enough of the middle to win by attempting to appeal to them only. Big Perm
I've always liked him, frankly I'm tired of picking apart all candidates on both sides, (oh he/she does this, but not this) - the systems broke and no new pres. is gonna fix it. DEMS/REPS all feels like smoke & mirrors, See ya in 2012 when nothing's changed, the Mayan Calendar ends and we join our ol' friends the Dinosaurs in Heaven.
JerseyMike
No fucking way. This guy, although principlaed and honest, wants to privatize everything, from social Secuirity, welfare, all the way down to the post office. Thats not what this country needs right now, and I personally could never agree with the privitization of welfare and social security.
