wilcohead
That would make me really happy. I've been getting into vinyl so much lately. Nothing like a sound wave with no compression......
W(TF)
I wish the same. But to be honest, the sound quality on KT is pretty damn good any way you hear it. I'd rather they reissue Summerteeth and A.M., which are next to impossible to find.
wilcohead
I already own Summerteeth on vinyl, but I'd love to own A.M. too..... That would be rad
rockinrob
There is a big enough market, even if they did 1000 each of AM, Summerteeth, KT and, Mermaid Avenue 2, they would sell out really fast. While on the subject, I wish they re-release all of the uncle tupelo records. One day!!
watchtower41
KT on vinyl would be excellent. I love MMJ Okonokos on vinyl. Re-releases of Summerteeth and A.M. would be incredible....but that's wishful thinking

It's tough the way the vinyl biz is right now. Several pressing plants have shut down for good, and I believe most of the majors are left using one plant in this part of the world. So costs are up, and production runs of 1000 are not likely to make the radar. Maybe it'll change in the future, who knows.
rockinrob
Actually, the biz is the best it's been since the early 90's. They also just recently (July) rereleased all of the out of print ryan adams records, and they did 1000 copies of each. It is really on the upswing, and the market is growing. I think in the next ten to 20 years or so, it will be all digital downloads and vinyl, no more cds.
W(TF)
It is really on the upswing, and the market is growing. The last I saw said unit sales have gone down the last couple of years, though not nearly as bad as CD sales. I think in the next ten to 20 years or so, it will be all digital downloads and vinyl, no more cds. Definitely.

wilcohead
well its upon us in the near future but right now I can still buy cd's and vinyl....... obviously
W(TF)
I'll be sad the day things go mainly digital.... I think that happened 20+ years ago? But as long as musicians care about things like vintage mics and tube amps, some of them will also care about good old analog recording. I hope. And a lot of the digital stuff these days sounds a hundred times better than it did at the beginning. If you're just talking about the aesthetic...yeah, vinyl is hard to beat. I have a big collection of vinyl that I'll never part with, but I enjoy the convenience of the ipod thing a lot also.
HighFives
AM is on ebay prolly about once a week usually goes from any where between 60 and 120ish is I think the most I've seen it go for.

I'd definitely buy a Summerteeth for that, which finding on ebay is few and far between, but yeah out of print Wilco albums have seriously gone up in demand in literally no time at all. I remember when I first got my new record player last Christmas, I used to see copies of "All Over the Place" for $25.00-$50.00, nowadays I cant find one for less than $100. Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda

rockinrob
I think you can still buy AGIB In the online store at wilco's site, not sure though. "Out of print" just means they aren't printing more of them. What we are refering to is when they are "Out of print", and you can't get them in stores anymore. I dont want to pay 60-120 for am, or 200 for summerteeth. It would be best if they reprinted them and they were 20-30ish. A DVD is LOOOOOOONG Overdue. I wish they wouldve done one when they had all of the cool artwork in the background. that was awesome, she should join wilco. It was like the acid screens at the fillmore east! Sarchi, I thought the last thing I had read and also the guy that runs a great local new lp store in tampa (vinyl Fever) said the industry was up. I will have to look around on the internet and say what info I can come up with on the subject. I may have been reading data from 2005ish by accident. I too enjoy the convience of MP3's, but when I am at home, it is 100% vinyl. Nothing beats warm analog.
wilcohead
I bought another copy of AGIB last night on wilco's website and it shipped this morning...

The concert review on owlandbear says there was "rumor" of professional video-taping. Not sure what that means. It's usually pretty easy to spot.
