OOO
Also, if you ever need XP, your macbook will come with "bootcamp", which allows you to install and run Windows natively (via dual-boot) on your computer. So the "having to rebuy all your applications" argument is a moot point. OSX, expecially Leopard, is a much nicer alternative than either XP or vista.

I bought the Mac version of Office mostly just to see what it was like and I got it for a huge discount. I may end up doing this for Netflix though, as the on-demand movies and shows don't work on the Mac OS. But, the videos have problems on my Windows machine too, so haven't bothered. Waiting for improvements on the Netflix end.
poppydawn
I'm a recent MacBook convert, and I'll never go back. Love it! Get the extended warranty so you can have access to the Mac geniuses to guide you through. For transfering my music from PC to MacBook, I invested in a USB external hard drive. They're relatively cheap. Just plug into the PC, move the files, plug into the MacBook and you'll be in good shape. I still haven't reconfigured my iPod for my MacBook, but it seems pretty straightforward.
Big Perm
i have a 15" macbook pro and i never leave home without it. I have a humongo Mac Pro with 30" & 23" displays at work, we have a strong, dedicated relationship, like that movie Cherry 2000, except it has no legs or arms, and doesn't go out to bars at night
isadorah
Get the Mac! I have been using macs since I first learned how to use a computer, I will never use anything else. My mom got a Dell and she is constantly having problems and calling me for help. Her Dell might actually be dead, if so, she is getting an iMac to replace it. I would also recommend getting iWork for the Mac. It is fairly new, rather inexpensive, and Apple's answer to Microsoft Office (which is an absolutely awful suite of programs). The interface and user-friendliness of iWork is pretty amazing, coming from a person that loathes spreadsheets. iWork is completely compatible with Microsoft Office, opens any file created with Office and easily converts files to be used in Office. As for the ipod, it is very easy to transfer your songs from the PC to the Mac. I'd get a portable external hard drive, copy everything over, then you have a back-up in case anything ever goes wrong. OOO
If you go to an apple retail store and you bring in your PC formatted iPod with the Macbook, I'm sure they'll transfer the songs for you - It's not very difficult.
Reni
my vote is for the macbook - I have one and it's the best computer I have ever had. I still love my old eMac as well.
isadorah
I still love my old eMac as well. you have an eMac! i have a cube. when the cube was still in use, i wanted to get an eMac so it could sit on the desk next to the cube and the two look all cute together. i was going to name the eMac "Big Mac" because it was actually the size of a Big Mac (the burger).
