Spawn's dad
there's a little Bobby Fischer in all of us.
LouieB
While Bobby cracked up as an adult, he was still a major force in bringing chess into the mainstream. I used to read his columns in Boys Life back in the 60s. Sadly he became a nut case. LouieB
IRememberDBoon
Heard on NPR this morning that unbeknownst to him both of his parents were Jewish
M. (hristine
Bobby Fischer on women: "They're all weak, all women. They're stupid compared to men."I like a little misogyny with my anti-Semitism. It keeps things spicy. I wonder if he ever called women "fucking bitches" or "dumbasses." bjorn_skurj
Perhaps kids should not be encouraged to play chess, if that's what it leads to.

OOO
i played chess competitively in high school, and still go to tournaments from time to time, and basically, as a rule, the better you are at chess, the more crazy you are. Bad hygeine and being anti-social go along with this as well. Grandmasters have such bad social skills its scary. The only huge exception to this rule is Kasparov, who is actually kind of a cool guy. Some of Bobby Fischers games are amazing to watch/play through...he was a genius, but also seriously F'ed up his whole life.
LouieB
In other shocking death news, Ike Turner died from too much blow. 76 years old, too:http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/1...aine/index.htmlYea, they should have locked Bobby and Ike in a room and let them have it out.....both were world class assholes who made more history. My son is a chess nerd and yea, it is hard to get him to take a shower sometimes... What do you think Bobby did all those years as a recluse anyway?? LouieB
Calexico
^^That is just the best reply of all time! I was actually quite surprised that Fisher was only 64 or so when he died. I thought he was much older, although I suppose he was in the news as a chess wizard froma very early age, which made him seem to be around forever.

I want to see the US wiped out”), antisemitism, and misogyny it's ironic that he was raised in Brooklyn by a Jewish mother.
