Lammycat
I've only heard of three acts on the list but- 1) I wasn't aware The Moody Blues still existed.2) I've read several poor reviews of the New York Dolls re-emergence on both album and performance.3) Dr. John is awesome. I've only seen him once (opening for the JGB in NY over 20 yrs. ago) but it was a memorable and enjoyable show.

Mystik Spiral
I can only speak to Matt Nathanson and Pela. Both were very very good shows.
Dr. Steve Brule
I have to heartily recommend Liam Finn. The new album is wonderful, and he's a really engaging performer.
takamine
I'd see Dr John, but that's because he's a relic and I don't know the others sans The Moody Blues, but I too wan't aware that they still existed.
Tweedling
After you decide what show you'll attend, go see if you can score some LSD around Haight/Ashbury....
stooka
...then I could just stroll over to the park and catch It's A Beautiful Day/Quicksilver Messenger Service.
LouieB
Did you name every act in town or what. I only have comments on these four since the rest don't ring much of a bell...The Moody Blues @ Orpheum - Sounds like a really BAD time to me personally.New York Dolls/We Are The Fury @ Fillmore Okay so only two of the original members are left but you can say you saw them..Dr John @ Yoshi
stooka
Did you name every act in town or what. Come to Chicago instead.... LouieB Well, somebody might have heard of one of them. It was such a dull offering, I thought I needed some help. My wife and I will be in SF 4 days for a work conference. However, we are coming to Chicago on April 5 to a show!!! Looking for things to do there as well. Any advice from an insider such as yourself would be greatly appreciated.
LouieB
Not saying these groups are dull, since the fact that I haven't heard of most of them means little or nothing really. Personally Dr. John sounds like the best time, but probably the most expensive. Yoshi's is supposed to be really nice. The Moody Blues sound dreadful on any number of levels, since I have not been able to stomach them from my days in college when they got played entirely too much at parties (not very exciting parties I might add) and I have seen some of their stuff on PBS that is also not very exciting. Some old bands just need to stay retired, period. Again in terms of old bands reuniting, The Dolls are probably your best bet, more like the David Johanson show doing Dolls covers I suppose. (Here is where I again put in my plug for the movie NY Doll.......) Frankly, though I don't know alot about Balkan Beat Box, I would imagine they are a really fun world music type of band and worth seeing if you like that sort of thing. The Ravonettes are famous too, but I am not sure for what. As far as April 5, read the threads on restaurants and hotels and some of the other older stuff then feel free to PM me. stooka
Maybe dull was the wrong choice....how about uninspiring? That could be more related to me not being familiar with these acts. So far, Dr John is the only one I would remotely want to see. The Yoshi seating chart looked promising and although they don't have the Doctor on there yet, George Duke is only $32. Fair price for either legend, I think.
LouieB
I think we are on the same page, both dull and uninspiring seems about right. My brother and law's brother raves about Yoshi's. Good to see George Duke still out there playing. Is he a legend? In some respects I suppose. Just hope that Dr. John is not having a night when he is phoning it in....
