Kalle
Well as some of you may or may not know up here in ol' Sault Ste. Marie I have a band that has been together for roughly 8 months or so and in that short amount of time we've developed somewhat of a fan base here in the Sault and surrounding area and are fortunate enough to be able to play at least once a week in various venues around town opening for the likes of Colourbook, A Northern Chorus, Ghost Bees etc. Anyways, a couple months ago we were contacted by the promoters for Sault Ste. Marie's Rotaryfest so that we would play "The Second Stage" (amazingly enough the "Main Stage" is ONLY COVER BANDS, it still shocks me every time but that is the nature of this city) so we would be playing with Canadian artists like Jacob and Lily, The Coast and THE COWBOY JUNKIES, YES THE COWBOY FRICKIN JUNKIES. As it dawned on us that we were going to be playing with one of Canada's most influential bands we were also put under greater pressure as we had to put out a CD of some form. That CD has taken the form of a six song EP called "Telescope". It's a much more subdued version of these songs as they are live, we were going for a much more concise "album like" feel to it. There is only 150 made and they were printed on all recycled paper, were hand sewn, numbered from 1-150 and sold for only $5! 6 songs for $5 that's better than iTunes! lol. But anyways it has been a week since Rotaryfest and the release of the EP and it has been a very exciting time. Our set went quite well and were lucky enough to be approached by two members of the Junkies telling us how much they enjoyed our set and we are pushing on 70 copies of Telescope being sold. SO, there are multiple places that you can listen to Telescope for free if you feel like it. You can download it in .zip form right here, http://www.sendspace.com/file/7bgs8g If you don't want us clogging up your hard drive you can listen to 5 of the 6 songs on our myspace, http://www.myspace.com/kallemattson or you can check us out at CBC Radio 3 right here, http://radio3.cbc.ca/bands/Kalle-Mattson Lastly here is the album art done by our drummer Patrick Larkin and a picture of us playing at Rotaryfest. Thanks a bunch everybody.
