Gallagher Still Ailing, Oasis Scraps NYC Show

Oasis has canceled its show tomorrow (Sept. 12) at New York's Terminal 5, in the wake of guitarist Noel Gallagher being attacked onstage Sunday in Toronto.

Gallagher suffered a bruised hip and ribs after being shoved from behind onto the stage monitors, injuries which have already necessitated the postponement of a show earlier this week in London, Ontario. Tickets for the New York show will be refunded at points of purchase.

Although the Toronto assailant was arrested and will face a litany of charges, Gallagher poked a bit of fun at the incident on his tour blog on Oasisinet.com, saying he felt like he'd had "a sparring session" with English boxer Ricky Hatton.

It appears the canceled show won't stop Oasis from promoting its new album, "Dig Out Your Soul," in an unusual way tomorrow in Manhattan. Band members will teach four new songs to a group of 30 street musicians from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Music Under New York initiative, who will then fan out into the city to perform the songs on the streets and in subway stations.

Fans are being encouraged to film the performances and upload them to a dedicated YouTube channel, youtube.com/digoutyoursoulsongs. The entire experience will be documented by creative agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty New York for a documentary due out in conjunction with the Oct. 7 U.S. release of "Dig Out Your Soul."

That must be the newest thing - Metallica has a Youtube channel, and is doing that also.

I saw Blonde Redhead in England in 2002 and someone threw a cup of liquid at singer Kazu. Maybe it was beer, maybe it was piss, but she showed some punk rock attitude by touching the wet stain on her clothing and then putting her finger in her mouth and tasting it.

Gallagher Ailing, Oasis Postpones More Shows

Oasis has postponed three additional shows in the wake of injuries suffered by guitarist Noel Gallagher during a Sept. 7 onstage attack in Toronto.

According to the band's Web site, Gallagher has three broken and dislodged ribs and has been advised by his doctor not to perform for another week.

As such, shows Saturday (Sept. 27) in Cornwall, England, Sept. 29 in Koln, Germany, and Sept. 30 in Paris have been postponed, with rescheduled dates to be announced. The week of the attack, Oasis axed shows in London, Ontario, and New York.

The Oct. 7 launch of a U.K. arena tour won't be affected by Gallagher's injuries, according to the site. The band's new album, "Dig Out Your Soul," arrives the same day in the U.S. via Big Brother/Warner Bros.
