bobbob1313
Oh, I wasn't saying as a playoff team they scare me. Just in a single game. Anytime Malkin and Crosby are on the ice they can put you in a hole real quick. But we are a better team. We really are lucky to have to wholly competent goalies.
Winston Legthigh
Nice trade for the Flames to pick up Olli Jokinen. He's been having an awful year, but he should be just fine skating alongside Iginla.
bobbob1313
I'm no fan of Olli's. I'm a little upset with how much the Coyotes got for him. He had two really good years here, but was pretty mediocre otherwise, and a lot of the chatter was that his teammates really didn't like him.
TCP
You're taking a huge risk on a player like Jokinen, room chemistry is so underrated and a player like that can destroy a room. I'm so glad the Canucks didn't do anything. Giving away first round draft picks for rental players is not the way you build a franchise. I was working so I missed out on the J-Bo to Van rumours, pretty funny to hear Mike Gillis say that he only spoke to the Florida GM for about 5 minutes this morning.
tongue-tied lightning
the Bruins are improved for the end run, and they didn't give up anyone from the core players. The Flames did a nice job too
So Long
great trade day. God I missed this thread.
TCP
I give this trade day a C+, it was ok, not great. Last years trade day was great, with Hossa, Richards, Cambell, etc all being moved. Today the only big name was Jokinen. The Coyotes were the biggest winner, in my opinion.
Winston Legthigh
WTF has happened to Carey Price's game? I think he might actually be done as a starting goalie. He's got the Jim Carey / Blaine Lacher flash-in-the-pan thing going on. Coyotes were winners if your criteria is dumping salary and obtaining marginal players in return... Somnambulist
Guerin for nobody? Isles missed their chance to get at least something substantial for Guerin. It may not matter for them anyway as Owner Wang has tied the passing of his "Lighthouse" project (revitalization of Nassau Colesium area) to keeping the team on Long Island. TCP
It's not the first bad decision the Islanders' management has made. Carey Price is just going through the sophomore slump. It happens all the time, look at Edmonton. That said, being a 21-year old goaltender in Montreal, in their centennial year, when everyone is calling you the next Brodeur/Roy/Luongo, I can't imagine having a job with more pressure put on you. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. I can only imagine how envious he is of Steve Mason, another young goaltender. The difference? Mason is in Columbus, playing on a team with little media coverage and low expectations coming into the season.
So Long
This slump the B's are in is making me craaazzzaaay
Winston Legthigh
This slump the B's are in is making me craaazzzaaaymeh... Their success depends on a high tempo game. You can't expect them to keep it up over 82 games.
tongue-tied lightning
no but, slumps near playoff time are a worry for us B's fans. We've seen all to many times.
TCP
They are losing their motivation after being on top for so long. Same with San Jose.Detroit lost a bunch of games in a row last year. It happens.
TCP
Final 10-12 games for most teams... yes we are in the FINAL STRETCH
So Long
Should we open an official NHL Playoff thread? The standings are so close in both the East and West, this postseason should be exciting. If the playoffs started today, Boston v. Montreal in round one...I have mixed feelings.
TCP
I don't know what it is but I hate the Habs now. Maybe their arrogant fan base is starting to wear on me.

So Long
I'm happy to see you've come around Canuck There's a good chance that the Bruins could clinch the conference and knock the Habs out of the playoffs when they meet up on the 9th. That would be sweet.
bobbob1313
The Panthers shitted all over their playoff chances the last 2 weeks. Fuck. We can't close games out.

bobbob1313
Me too, but we are completely incapable of sustaining an offensive attack or of even holding onto the puck. That's what kills us, really. We get a 2 goal lead in the 3rd and then let the other team just sit in our zone and set up attack after attack. Voukon is good, but he can't do it all on his own.

bobbob1313
I think this team really needs a legit sharpshooter on offense. That would do wonders.
petemoss
I don't know what it is but I hate the Habs now. Maybe their arrogant fan base is starting to wear on me. I know what you mean. I am a die hard habs fan, and there are definitely some pretty arrogant canadiens fans out there. Not all, but some.I'm surprised you are hating on the habs right now though, they have been horrible since the all star break, and most arrogant fans are pretty quiet right now.I don't have much faith in this team right now, on paper - they are a great team. But one thing after another, has caused this team to implode in the last half.If they do make the playoffs, they won't get past the first round. That being said, I like their chances against the Bruins over someone like New Jersey or Washington. But yeah, the Bruins would most likely roll over the vulnerable habs...As a Canadiens fan, it hurts to say this, but for the very first time in my life - I LIKE the bruins this year.I like them a lot. I have always been a Julien fan, and there are just so many players on the Bruins I like.
