Should I stay in Chicago at a Hostel overnight for $30 or are their cheap places near the theater? any feedback would help Thanks!

Unfortunately chicks around here listen to garbage (not the band) Sorry abouth the chick selection around here for ya. I'm happy to be going with you guys (this time I have my OWN hotel room!) despite the fact you guys are guys. It would be nice to find even 1 girl around W-Burg that digs Wilco. Hang out @ Chipotle till a Wilco songs comes on & see if any babes look like they enjoy the music. You could meet the future Mrs. Paul.

watchtower41
There's no shortage of places to eat and drink, both in campus town, in downtown Champaign, and downtown Urbana. Haven't been down to the area in several years, but The Office was a great place for beverages in downtown Urbana, and apparently White Horse is open again in Champaign - that will make my husband happy! (As that was the leading reason given for not going to this show originally.) As for food, Radio Maria's was our favorite place to eat. We'll be dining there again for sure. (Though I hear that the tapas menu is mediocre.)To stay, if you feel like splurging, the Union has a hotel, and it's directly across the quad from Foellinger Hall. So, convenient too! http://www.union.uiuc.edu/services/hotelOtherwise, it's a college town, and hotels abound. Hope this helps... Thanks for these great suggestions... may have to check out a few of these places pre/post show. Any other good restaurant suggestions besides the normal bar fare? We are staying off Neil St (which I'd assume is the main strip for hotels) but it's been a while since I've been down to U of I so just looking for some options. Can't wait! for no snow

Party @ the Moontower
Anyone meeting up for a drink or coffee before/after the show? We are shacking up in a few rooms 3 miles from Foellinger. Any cheapskates staying at the acclaimed Red Roof Inn with us? I hear it's a fancy experience like no other . Eighty bucks for 2 rooms!

We'll be appearing with our good friends Butterfly Assassins, our mortal enemies Worlds First Flying Machine, and our racquetball partners Yoss Arian. The show begins at 10 pm, and tickets are $5 ahead, and $7 at the door. Contact any members of our troupe to ask for advance tickets if you please. Oh yes, and the show is most certainly considered a Jeff Tweedy post-show (fresh off his appearance on Iron Chef). Whether or not you have tickets to his show, one thing's for sure: we're going to blow that Wilco front man out of the water.

Given that they (in all likelihood) won't live up to such a claim, I thought it appropriate to go just as a delegation from our side to formally censure them for such a wild untruth. I can spare $5 to go as long as they show proper respect to JT. I'm always up for new music as long as gospel & new country isn't in the mix.
